Fuel Filter change

When I had the old Prevost with the Detroit when I changed fuel filters, I filled them with fuel, 1 at a time. and it always started right up.  When I serviced the M 11  Cummings I was careful , I filled filters with fuel 1 at a time and it had a hard time starting.
It has a Baldwin water separator 1st and then the Cummings filter. I must of got air in the lines.  Is there a trick to changing the filters?  I changed the Baldwin 1st , and it fired right up, let it run for a few minutes , and then I changed the 2nd one and that's when I had the problem.                                        Thanks    Art

Hi Art,
Fuel filters change on the M-11 should not be difficult at all. I change the primary and secondary filters, run the prime system to purge the air and fire it up. Apparently your priming system was removed in the past. Fortunately the M-11's will purge the air eventually, after some cranking. If you get tired of dealing with precharging the filters and air issues look into installing a Racor 790R30 filter pump.
