New coach!

Hi everybody,

As I make a quick pit stop 20 miles or so West of Albany, NY, I am totally amazed with the new coach.  :D  It's  a 1999 36' U270.  I purchased it from Olde Bay RV in New Hampshire, and could not have been happier with the experience.  The owners of Olde Bay are a great bunch of guys!  To complete the handover of the coach, the former owner came out to meet me this morning, and spent approximately four hours with me explaining the workings of the coach.  The only issue the is presenting itself is the odometer.  I reset the trip meter before I left NH, and noticed that it registered more that 80 miles during the first two [actual] miles of my trip.  At that rate, the odometer would accumulate more than 60,000 miles during my trip back to Colorado.  So, using the wiring diagram, I disconnected the wire from the back of the gauge that displays the odometer.  My first project..life is good.

Cheers,

Brian

Congrats!  We've got the same coach (actually just the same model and year ;D), and we love it!    The odometer may be a weak point with our year, since the odometer in ours had been replaced a couple of years before I bought it.

Brian,
Congratulations on your acquisition of a Foretravel motorhome.  The U270 model is by far the best value out there, especially in the year vintage you have.  Wishing you many years of enjoyment and travels across this great country.

Welcome to the Foretravel Family. I too have a 99 U270. We bought it last May and love it. I have noticed with my Odometer that when I push the button to reset the trip mileage it causes my display to flicker and spaz out for a while. I dont reset it any more and it seems to be working better now. Have a safe trip home.

Brian, good to hear the good news.  I take it you are avoiding certain parts of Indiana on your way back to Colorado.  ::)

We have the same coach 99 U270 36 ft build nr:  5470
The speedometer was also replaced in our coach before we bought it at about 43,000 miles.
All seems to be working fine now.  These speedometers must have been "not so good".
The one thing I found in my trips this past year was that these coaches are made to go.  I really enjoy the open road and going across states. Just make sure you put the big awning out at an angle as they will hold water if level and can bend the outer frame if you get into a fast rain.  Enjoy  DAN
