New floor

Recently we decided to replace our worn out carpet and tile flooring.  I sealed the deal with one hard smack to the existing tile floor at which time my wife took a deep breath and said "Here we go".  We started first by removing the aforementioned cracked tile which came up easily.  Approximately 50% of the tiles were still well attached and we discovered that the subfloor plywood had been severely gouged to help the tile bond.  The plywood under the carpet was in perfect condition.  Around the toilet the subfloor was rotted and we pulled that section up and replaced with new plywood.  We filled in the gouge holes with an epoxy/sawdust filler and sealed the bathroom and kitchen plywood with an epoxy paint to protect it from future water damage.  We decided to install a cork laminate floating floor for several reasons.  Cork is very easy on your feet and legs vs. tile and is a natural insulator.  The tiles and joints were treated at the factory to resist water damage.  Installation was straight forward but tedious due to all the cuts.  Overall, we have found the cork flooring exceptional.  We recently took a 4500 mile trip from Florida to Washington state and found that the road noise was actually decreased.  We used a US Floors product which we found on the internet.  One important note about cork flooring products:  Avoid products that have been manufactured outside the US.  They use formaldehyde in their process which creates a bad odor.  Our flooring is virtually odorless.

Reminds me of when Steve pulled the old kitchen backsplash off - left me with no option but to "get tiling"  :))

Really beautiful floor and what a professional looking job!

I've never seen a cork floor up close and personal, but have been intrigued.  We'd love to replace our carpet with something easier to clean, yet Posse-friendly (aka not to slippery).  Do you think cork would withstand 3 active dogs (and their toenails)?

We left the carpet on the sides of the stairs but replaced the carpet on top of the stair cover with the new flooring.  The only other carpet that remains is around the sides of the engine compartment.  I added two more pictures for you to view.

We were concerned about the durability of the flooring at first, but have been very pleased with the quality of it.  We do not have dogs but I believe that it would hold up great.  The warranty is terrific (can't remember if it is lifetime, but I think it is).  There are numerous styles to choose from as well.  We have had it down for 8 months now.

Word of caution Michelle.  We found the product that we wanted on the USFloors website and then found the tile online vs going to a retail store.  We saved over 50% on the price by purchasing the tiles online vs. buying them through the store.  Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions.

Great looking product and a very professional installation.  The interior of your coach is warmer and more inviting.

It is so much easier to do this when a slide is not involved.

We had to unbolt and remove all the furniture, magazine rack and toilet.  We started laying the tile in front of the refrigerator and worked outwards from there.  While we had the toilet out, we resealed the hopper assembly and tightened the hopper retaining rods utilizing Loctite.  We eliminated the starboard couch and changed the passenger seat to a standard size to open up the living space.

We had that exact issue and we used a commercial grade wood that was harder and had the stain infused into the wood. It has been 3 years now and the pups have not scratched it at all. I have not done  it either even though I had old boots that picked up rocks. Those boots are now history.... oh well.  The cork idea is pretty neat too.

Flooring job looks very nice. Thinking about the same in my 95 295. I see in your pictures that you are using the foretravel dinette chairs with the star base. How's that working out with the Cork?

No problems at all.  We try not to sit in the chair and drag it on the floor just as a precaution, but so far there hasn't been any wear on the surface of the floor.  Seems very durable.  It's been down about 8 months now.
