Where to get a new Splendide

With an 11 year old washer/dryer, we are going to replace rather than repair our Splendide.  There is an outstanding mobile tech less than a mile from where we are parked near Ocala, Florida.  Where is the best place to get a replacement model?

George,
You may want to call Camping World not too far from where you are in Kissimmee, FL.

I agree - Camping World has the 2100XC in white on sale for $899.99 President's Club price right now.  That's less than we paid 3 years ago.

RV Splendide Washer Dryer Combo, vented RV washer-dryer Splendide combo for

We had the 2000 and now have the 2100XC, upgrading solely for the additional capacity.  It holds noticeably more laundry and uses much less water.

The only negative I've read about the 2100 are some reports (including here) of the door handle not being as robust as previous units.

George, FWIW I have a friend who removed their Splendide for space reasons from a 2000 Holiday Rambler and would probably like to sell it.  If interested give him a call , Marty Loeffler 687-428-6083.  The washer is in MID GA.

George, I'll go Gary one better.  I just took mine out, you can HAVE it.  Apparently you haven't read Dave Barry's article about his trip to North Dakota.  He even got a sewage pump station named after him.  I'm sure we could do something as honoring for you.....

A trip to North Dakota puts me on the map

How do I remove the floor that is above the Splendide?  I do not see any screws.  RV tech is coming here Friday morning at 9:00 a.m.  I don't want to pay him to try and figure it out.

I replaced my washer in December - was a snap -

Pull the carpet up/off the board in front of base of washer - there will be screws, remove those and the board will come out (may need a flat head screw driver to pry with)

The washer will slide out easy - be sure to turn water supply off, my connections are under the fridge which is next to washer - also have some old towels and wash pan to gather any water

Keep in mind the dryer duct will not match the old and you'll need to redo the venting - I cut down the metal tube and used some flex dryer tubing from Lowes

No I did not take pics - sorry

Virginia,

Bingo!!!!

Sandy and I looked at the washer again and started poking around.  We got the carpet off and the five screws out and the washer is ready to slide out.  You are so helpful.  thank you.

Is this the "floor" of the cabinet above the washer?  I'm trying to remember, but I think the carpet is not attached and if you pull it up you might find some of the (infamous) square drive screws in the plywood shelf/floor.

If no screws, then try to push from below and maybe the plywood will lift up.

Steve is trying to remember - if there are finished "boxes" in the back corners of the cabinet, those might be holding the floor in and you'd have to remove them first.

Yes it is.  I posted a cranky description of our shelf.  I thought I put it up here.  Anyway, I got the top part of the shelf out.  It was the worst install I've ever seen.  We have to pull out the washer and, if we need the space above to work on the washer, then we will be able to remove the bottom of the shelf from underneath.  Our shelf is something of a "sandwich" with a piece of 1/4 inch plywood on the top; a crappy 1 x 2 frame underneath and a piece of plywood with a walnut veneer facing downward attached to the crappy frame.  There was no thought put into this shelf in terms of someone having to gain access to the washer years down the road.  I am the lucky guy who got to deal with this.

We do the install tomorrow.  I hope it all goes well.  I'll let ya know.

Thanks for the additional input.

I am torn over the issue of even having a washer in the first place.  I am thiiiiiiis close to having the thing pulled out and redesigning the closet space.I would love to hear thoughts ... pros and cons ... on this issue, as well as any creative storage innovations that may have taken place in an empty washer space.  Or, perhaps this is a new topic?

There are a lot of tacky, dirty laundromats with crappy washing machines.

Your call.

We use our Splendide every day when we are on the road. I have a towel in the dryer while showering, so I have a nice warm towel when I get out. Then it goes back in the dryer so I don't have a wet towel laying around.
I normally run the generator while we are traveling, and as long as my grey tank is low I will run a load while we are driving.

I used to think that having a washer was a complete waste of space and money . .. until I got one.  I LOVE my washer, and if (knock on walnut) it ever completely breaks down, I'll replace it.  The convenience of never having to haul clothes to a laundromat where you never know if the dryers are really going to dry, plus the enormous cost of laundromats now is more than worth the amount of space the Splendid takes.

Matt,

While it would likely fit, a vented washer/dryer, like the Splendide 2100XC, is preferable.  The ventless versions use condensation drying which takes a lot longer and often uses more water.  Ventless is really only best if there's no way for you to properly vent the machine.

Splendide's current ventless combo model is the 7100XC.

I didn't know.  I bought a couple for rental properties, and they seemed pretty inexpensive.
