I 40 between Ashville & Knoxville

We are returning home to Mi from Florida via the East coast of Fl and Georgia, starting mid March.
Our question is, how is the drive up I-40 from Asheville to Knoxville in mid April? Snow, rock slides, etc.
Will depart the East coast at Charleston on our way to Asheville.

We have done I-75 many times and just want to see some things different. Besides we drove the Escape home Jan 10 and are heading back this Wed to Riverview, Tampa area, where we left the bus in storage.

thanks, dick & Sue

At the present time, all lanes I 40 west out of Asheville open to Knoxville. I was over that route in the late fall and there was some construction on I 40 just after entering from I 26. No lane obstructions, just barrels and closed shoulders. Alternate route with less congestion but a bit longer is I 26 all the way thru Asheville and north over Sam's Gap to Johnson City and junction of I 81 then south to I 40. This is a beautiful scenic drive.
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

Last week we drove I-40 from Memphis, TN to Raleigh, NC.  No problems other than the weather and a few accidents.  I didn't notice any construction along the way.  We stayed at the west Asheville KOA and found it to be a nice place for an overnight stopover.  Not deluxe, but better than the average KOA.  There is also a east Asheville KOA, but we have no experience with that park.
