New Tires Brands??

I am looking at a Foretravel that needs new tires 40ft 295.  I priced the Michelin 16 ply today at about $550 each installed ( currently 3 weeks before he will receive).  Then he could install Bridgestones for about $50 less in about 3 days.
Did not ck Toyo or Goodyear but have a desire to put back the original equipment tires. I know this has been talked about several times but does anyone have Bridgestones and what of the service?  Tks DAn Stansel U270 99 36 for Sale

If that price includes all taxes and installation, that is a very good price. I put two Michelin Steering Tires (XZA3, LR H, 275X80RX22.5) on last fall for $589 each, but by the time the excise tax, Texas state sales tax, disposal fee were tacked on, they were about $100 more per tire.

As I recall Gary Bouland is running Bridgestones on his coach (correct me Gary) and likes them.

Do not forget how to read the date code on the tires, Shops that stock tires usually do not have the freshest stock, and when you have them shipped in from a supplier, they could also be old tires, Just a thought, Know if I am paying the big bux, I expect the good tires no matter what brand name they are.  I prefer the Michelins depsite they are from France.

Dan, I'm running Continental 275 80 R 22.5 HSL H rated.  When purchased 2 years ago they were about 100 bucks cheaper than the comparable Michelin.  I like them I run 110 PSI and they have Been no problem.

I have Bridgestone's on mine. I have owned the coach for a year. Tires are four and a half years old. They still look new. They have a very nice ride. I was told by a tire expert that they have thicker side walls than Michelin but thinner than Goodyear. I guess that means they dont ride as soft as Michelin but they are not as harsh as Goodyear. That is the little I know about them. I will most likely replace them with the same tire when the time comes.

I ran Bridgestones on my U225 the first two years I had it. I replaced the steering tires after 1 year not because the tires were bad or cracked but because they were 11 years old. I tried to replace the drive tires but the tires shop said it would be foolish because the tires were in perfect condition. Soooo, I drove the drive tires up to 13 years without a problem. I don't recommend anyone else doing this but I got lucky. I was very impressed with the Bridgestones but I replaced them with Goodyears. I have Michelins on my U300. You can tell I am not loyal to any brand.

By the way, the tires were always kept under tire covers and parked on plastic whenever the coach sat still for the first 10 years of their life.

Thanks everyone about the info on the tires.  It appears that if you own a certain brand you are pleased with what you have.  Its good we have all these choices even if they are expensive so need for them to last.  Tks Dan Stansel U270 36 FOR SALE

I know of many Vietnam vets who will not run a vehicle with Michelins.  But it doesn't bother me. 

My only gripe with the French is the fact that they would not give up their parking spot in the West Berlin US PX lot until another Frenchman was ready to pull in.  Can't begin to figure the miles I put on the car going around that lot looking for a spot while a Frenchman just stood by his car waiting for one of his fellow countrymen to come along.  Boy did they stick together!!!  Otherwise I have great admiration for their ability at collecting intelligence against the Soviet military in East Germany way back in the late '70s and early '80s.  They went to lengths to obtain intelligence that we did not dare to go to.  Really daring stuff on their part.  And they always shared with us!!

I have continetal HSL on mine 5 years, they run great and do not loose air over time.

I had Bridgestone tires on my previous gas 32 foot P30 motorhome on 19.5 inch rims.
I was disappointed because:
Firstly, Henderson's in Oregon recommended changing to michelins on front to improve steering. Replacing front tires with Michelins did make a noticable improvement in driving.
Secondly: The Bridgestones were weather checked to the cords after only 6 years while I replaced the Michelins at 12 years old even though they still looked OK.
