Ice Maker

Tried the ice maker in my 93 GV for the first time ever at the end of the season last year.  The kids had said it didn't work, but it filled the bin in no time.  This year it got cold, then shut off and that was it.  I'm old and do that a lot myself, so I'm not suprised.  I plan to pull it and play with it next week, but am not holding out much hope.  I looked at the archives on people replacing these and it doesn't seem to be that big a deal other than the price.  When I checked U-line the one that appears to be the replacement for what I have is running around $869+.  The lowest priced one I have found that should fit with minor mod to the cabinet is a Edge Star at around $309.  I am curious if anyone has "been there, done that" lately.  Also, the one I have now has a lip around it covered by the door that allows it to screw to the cabinet.  Everything I am seeing online looks like the sides are flush with the door which will make for more interesting mounting.  BTW I checked with Lowes and Home Depot today and they will order one but their price is very high.

Bill,

Call Phillip Covault at AER Supply in Seabrook, TX, at 281.473.3276.  They are marine distributors for U-Line and will sell to RVers at a very good price plus they know how to make it all work.  I would not be surprised to have Phillip determine how to get yours working for a part or two.

Hope this helps you.
