Joey Bed bearings

Any one find replacements for our Joey Bed bearings with the short mounting bolt?

A bearing supplier told me the center bolt is probably made for now defunct Joey Bed.
And that we should save center bolts from broken bearings, as they can be pressed into new standard bearings.

It appears our Joey Bed bearings are type 6202 RS (rubber side) and readily available for around $4.00
Catalog says static weight capacity is around 800 pounds.
 
I wonder if there are higher capacity bearings made with the same OD, ID & width?

Email Jor as he has all the paperwork on my old Joey Bed (different manufacturer) who probably has the bearings you need. At the very least the manufacturer would be able to give you a suppliers name.  I have Jor's phone number. If you would like that I will PM you.

I sent your question along with pics and bearing number to my SIL who is with SFK International.  The bearing in question is made by GBE - Gears & Bearings Engineering - Home.  If my sister in law can't find you a source for a stronger SKF bearing, GBE  might be your last resource.  If she can source them, e-mail me with your address so we can find you the closest SKF supplier who would have the proper bearing.  She can locate bearings all around the world if they are in their system!!!  She may need some more information.  My email is parmm@atlanticbb.net

I have repaired several of the bearing assemblies. In my case the outer bearing races split and fell off. I used a Dremel tool to cut the inner race. Once off, I ground the spindle edge to remove the lip used to hold the bearing in place. After polishing the spindle with fine emery paper I press a SKF 6202  2RSJEM bearing in place, utilizing Loctite 609 Retaining Compound. I have done research on the possibility of a better bearing replacement, but nothing is available to fit the current size spindle.

Thanks for your info on bearings. Looks like we need to save all broken bearings to recover the center bolt and 6202 bearings are common and similar.
Our outer bearings have also broken the same way you describe. The static load must be quite high on these outer bearings when the slide is all the way out.

Good to now understand how to keep our Joey Bed working in the face of them going out of business.

We did break part of the side lock and could not find any replacement parts, so we modified our broken part to keep it working. Anyone know of a scraped Joey Bed brand tray?

If I only knew what dumpster I threw that broken bearing into last year?

Barry, try Colaw Used RV Parts. They had a number of Joey Beds last fall when I talked with them. They probably will also have damaged Joey's from which to scavenge parts.

Try a bearing supply house. The pics look quite similar to a bearing called a cam follower. There are many different sizes used on machinery and shuttle tables so you might find a compatible cam follower that you can replace at very reasonable cost and quite likely a considerably heavier load rating.

After talking to John Alguire, he bought some bearings for his Joey bed.
He bought them from Motion Industries, part # 22458-01

After talking to Killian they said
Radial load rating at 600 rpm is 204
But for our slide tray multiply that by 3.6 to get 735 load rating

I'm confused. The bore and OD are completly different than a 6202 bearing. That bearing might possibly work if the bore size was bushed to 15mm and the mounting hole position was lowered to allow for a larger diameter bearing. This would require all bearings to be replaced at one time. After eyeballing my joey bed a wider bearing simply will not fit.

I was going to mention, any decent machine shop could make the center bolt, given a copy.

After further discussion with John, it appears his tray is NOT the Joey Bed brand but another brand.
So these bearings are incorrect for the Joey Bed. OOPS  ???
