Drive shaft disconnect?

I was wondering what was the best bang for the buck for a Drive Shaft Disconnect system for my 01 Ford F-150 super crew.

Sorry I have not been on the Forum for a while, I started a new business I took Roger Berke and Rudy Leggit's advice and went to Aqua Hot School. I got involved with AH over our Fortravel that the Aqua Hot did not work.

PS  Roger Berke has been very instrumental in this whole project.  Thanks Roger

Remco makes one  along with lube pumps, etc.

I have not used them , but a friend of mine got a lube pump  years ago and it worked fine.

Good luck.

I researched this for our Toyota FJ Cruiser, and the only source (and the only towing option for 4 down) I could find was the Remco driveshaft disconnect, now sold by Superflow.  Call 855-447-3626 and ask for Bill.  I want one, but am still trying to reckon with the $1150 price.  Will probably break down and order soon, unless you find a better alternative for me.  The mine trails of California are calling me!

I've had 2 of them, both the Remco kit.  With the first one, I had a local RV outfit install it on my 2003 S-10 pickup when the truck was new and only had about 500 miles on it.  Seven years later, 32,000 on the odometer and another likely 50,000 towed, I can report no problems.

The second one, I put on a Ford Ranger pickup I bought in 2006 (about a 1997, if I recall) to use to haul a Harley in the longbed.  Since it was an older vehicle, I was more comfortable tackling it myself.  It was an easy job and the installation was simple and straight-forward.  I used it for a couple of trips and then sold the truck.

I installed the Remco on my 1997 F250 four door diesel that we tow, the kit was easily installed just be sure IF you go that route that you have the drive shaft place balance your drivshaft. It is simple enough to do with just basic tools.
The charge from my local drivshaft place was $150.00 4 years ago to weld it in place and balance it again.

I've been very pleased with my Remco drive line disconnect on my 03 Lincoln Towncar.  When we bought our coach 4 years ago we looked at buying a 4x4 toad.  Nothing clicked, we owned the Towncar, and went the Remco route with the AirForce One brake system.  Both have worked great for over 30K miles.
