odors who needs them

I was told by another RVer to put about a half cup of country time or tang powder into black water tank to freshen the smell???  Not sure yet but just put some in.  Also recommended  was
"Odoban" which you can get by the gallon at Sams.  Been using it and it seems to work well.
Of course the old additive is dawn and putting a bag of ice in and driving about 10 miles to clean out everything.  Sensors work better.  Tks DAN

I don't think there is anything that you can add to gray or black water to eliminate the smalls.

The objective is not to make them smell good, but to isolate them from the coach interior. So, if you have odors in the coach, determine the source and attack that.

Heavy perfume to cover up the odors is not the same as odor free.

 I do not have odors at the this time but I am hoping that these methods will keep them away.  Tks for the suggestions as I know someone may have an odor problem.  Agree get it out , don't cover it up.  DAN

One thing that causes intermittent odors are the various extractor fans in the coach.  When you run them they create negative pressure and the make up air has to come from somewhere. If all the windows are closed it is possible that a faulty valve that does not pass odors normally will allow the fan to draw air in via the tank vents.  When one smells odor what does one do?  Run the fan harder.  Try opening a window and if the smell stops then suspect the valves.

I put some Dawn detergent down the toilet after I empty the tanks. I think it helps keep the tank clean and provides a bit of lubrication for the valve.

I solved a long standing odor problem that was exacerbated by running the exhaust fans. Odor Problem with Sealand Traveler - SOLVED! Other have described similar issues, and, indeed, the solution is to find the port that is allowing the odors to get into the coach.
