I've up and down on that roof so much already that climbing up there is a non-issue.  :D

I read about diminished output with a flat panel. I think if I were to go there, I would want a tilt feature. And being the sort that loves to tinker and build things, I can see an automated system, operating on 12 volts with a nano-PLC controller, a couple of photocells, and some stepper motors. The system would begin by tilting the panels through the full range of travel to find the optimum position for max input, then track the sun throughout  the day to maximize the solar energy collected. It does mandate, however, that you orient the coach such that you are more or less perpindicular to the path of the sun. Otherwise you'd need a 3 axis panel tilting system, which would get quite heavy, complicated and expensive.

It would add several hundred to a thousand dollars to the cost of the install, but I think it would be worth it. Guess I'll find out when I get there.
