Is it sad...

that I've only owned my '89 38' ORED for a month and yet after finding this site all I can do is day dream about the day I can purchase my next FT with all the newer gadgets?  It'll run me at least 4-5 times what I paid for this one so its a day not coming soon!  :P

Benjie,

Nah.  Steve and I are constantly talking about our next remodel/upgrade project for our coach.  Same kind of thing, just less pricey (well, maybe not when you combine them all...  ::) )  I love being inspired by all the options!

I have exactly what I want and a little more than I need and no plans or yearnings for a newer coach. Getting old does funny things to you. That could never have happened ten years ago.

With that slick paint job and 2009 restoration, who needs a newer coach!  Maybe I'll go that route.  Can I get what you had done for about $1K?  :D

No wishes for anything newer. The U300 is way more than I need to be happy camping. I would trade a handful of Allisons for one crashbox and could easily level it with 2x6s like in the old days. Have to say, sure is nice listening to the rain come down and know none is coming inside. Still feel the need to get up in the night and check for leaks. Knew it was time to retire our old Joad II when the cops came around the WalMart parking lot at night to check if we had $5 in our wallet. Plus the kids did have us drop them off a block away from a party one time. One bad exhaust manifold gasket can sure make a racket outside I guess. Now the old girl is our guest "motel" when friends come to town.

:) "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder"  ;) Work on making your coach the way you want it, and up grade when you can afford it. We love what we have and really don't aspire for anything more.... The quality of your Foretravel interior was just as good the day it was made as the newer models of today.  ^.^d  With some of the new engine restrictions we may be better off then with the new "clean" diesel engines.  ::)  Please don't be sad !  :)) :)) :))

Guess I am going to be old fashion.  But I have looked at the Grand Villas for years, and we narrowed our list of needs and wants.  The one we found, is going to be ours for a long while.  I still look at lots of ads, but find so very few worth of us wanting to change to newer, bigger, or more complex.

Benji, It's just camping, enjoy and don't get stressed out about the latest and greatest others are camping in. Learn to enjoy what you have now or you never will be able to because they get flashier and bigger every year... Forget the Joneses and enjoy the rig you have........ Guess i've reached the age as well Kent.

When we were looking to upgrade from our class C we had certain criteria in mind. When we found-then purchased our '89 GV we found that it exceeded everything we had been looking for. The comments and praises we have received from everyone that sees our GV make us extremely proud. New one? More "gadgets"? Bigger? Not for us! We think our GV
is unique. One nice thing about the older style Foretravels is that they can be identified from a long way off. The newer ones all look alike until one is close enough to see the name or logo.

Yep, and with a Grand Villa, one can camp in lots of skinny places when other will have to pass on because of their slideout.

Like Dave Cobb I still look at advertisements of Foretravel's for sale. I get a lot of good ideas looking at the interior photos. :) Having had a MH previously with slide-outs I was worried about not having the extra space. The only time it bothers me is when I trip over one of the Border Collies. <g>
