Dumb Electrical Question ??

I ask this question based on how my house and start batteries operated on my SOB.  On my Fortravel, if I take the leads off my house batteries, the inverter and anything that operates on 12v still work.  Accordingly, since the inverter works, the 110v outlets work.  This could potentially cause a problem where my start battery is drained.  My question is...Is this the proper operation?  I thought the isolator was to prevent current flow from the start battery going to house items, while at the same time allowing for the house and start batteries to be charged. Please be kind..remember..I know Fluid Dynamics, not Electrical  ;D

If you have an exposed solar panel it will feed into the 12v system from where it is connected into the system. (usually behind the refrigerator). disconnect it and the system should shut down.. also if the coach is plugged into 120/240 land line the inverter will supply the 12v system through the battery charging side of the inverter.

Hi Gerry,

When I disconnected the house battery leads I did not have the coach plugged in.  However, I do have two solar panels.  Totally forgot about adding them into the equation.  :o  I'll locate where the solar feeds into the system tomorrow, remove it, and perform my test again.  Thanks for the enlightenment!
