1984 with 8.2 pulley problems..

Good friend of mine has an 84 with the 8.2 and both pulleys are bad....He found them new in Austin for 2000.00 not going to spend that! Anyone have a good place to look for used ones?
Thanks

Not a clue, but would be checking truck junk yards, the 8.2 DDC was never a popular engine, so I would guess finding exactly what your looking for would be a struggle.

$2,000.00 does sound crazy, I would take the engine numbers to the local DDC distributor, not a local truck stop,  and have them look up the pulley for that engine, get the real price.

Mark and Tracy,

Yes, like Dave said, get your engine number and get ready to call the local DDC dist., but first, call the 8.2 specialists at http://www.expertdiesel.com/82_detroit.htm and give them a try. Think they may have access to a lot of 8.2 parts.

Didn't we find a link to a guy that rebuilt and tuned those 8.2s? That's who I would talk to...
