Folding Mirrors on GVs?

We did some measuring yesterday and discovered that our U225 is 7-inches longer than our shop is deep. This means we'll have to park the coach somewhat "slaunch-wise" in the shop (encroaching on the other bay). Fortunately we have plenty of height and width inside the shop to do this (carefully) but the doors are just over 10-feet wide while the mirrors on the coach are almost 10-feet wide.

Can the mirrors be safely folded closer to the coach?

I don't think the mirrors will fold, without loosening everything up.

I pretty much had that figured... but if I loosen that nut at the bottom of the main support strut will I be able to safely move the mirrors in towards the coach (without harming the adjustment mechanisms or wiring)?

Craig, Ramco used a Stainless 1/2in bolt at the pivot point, be sure to soak with WD40 or equiv. before trying to loosen.  You might want to remove the bolts and reinstall using Anti-Seize compound, Stainless hates to be dry.

Alfred... That sounds like a plan. If I can't get the mirrors to move in then I can't get the rear end over far enough to let all 35'7" in to a 35' shop. :P

Sounds like you're needing a non-glass bay window installed!  Seriously, would it be possible to do a "bump out" in shop wall?  Since the front wheels are set back so far no foundation work would be needed.

Since the city's building department is remarkably intransigent it is easier - at least for the time being - to keep the building as it is. Changing things is both expensive and time consuming; with no guarantee of success. I don't know if this is common across the USA but right now the political situation locally is frustrating.

It's that little "vee" in the front of the GV that is proving to be the problem. Just parking so that the flat side of the front is parallel to the front of the shop door would allow the coach to fit. Since we do have enough room inside the building to do this (if I can get the mirrors to fold flush with the coach) it would be an easy and relatively convenient solution.

Otherwise I might have to arrange a slight modification to the door.
