Brake Light Replacement

So, the right brake light is out on the U225. That shouldn't be difficult, right? Well there is no obviously simple way to remove the lens over the lamp. No screws holding it in, for instance. At least not from the outside. Kind of hard to see the inside part but that looks to be completely covered.

Do the lenses just pull off?

Craig,
You will have to remove the fiberglass protective cover that is over the back of the light housing to access the bulb. On our U 240 the covers were held in place with a small amount of silicone.

The ole light assembly come of from the inside. the Lance can not be removed

Here's a few photos of how they come out, Craig. Probably have to clean it up back there and, like P & M said, break it free from a silicone seal. When you're doing the job you will wish your arms were about six inches longer!

Excellent photos by John (jor).  That is exactly how it works.  Anytime you access them, be sure to wipe the dust off all the bulbs.  You would be surprised at how much brighter that makes the lights.

Yikes... I'm not sure my arms rotate in the directions required to get those things out. Especially the passenger side (starboard). I may order LEDs for these things just to keep from having to do it more than one time. And, just to make things even more fun, the high temps around here are about 36F lately. Wheee!
