Oil for the hydraulic fan system

The reservoir is labeled for Delo 400 HD - anyone know if I can use Delo 400 LE for replenishing? Apparently -HD is no longer available.

Mine is labeled as 15W-40 Delo something, so I used Rotella T 15W-40

About any 15-40 diesel motor oil will work fine for the hyd system, mine has Conoco 15-40 semi syn. in it.

Duane, For the sake of simplicity I use Shell Rotella 15/40 in Engine, Hydraulic and generator.  Keeps me from having to carry different oils.

As long as the Mil Spec is the same it should be ok.

I think it is a bit strange that there is no specified change interval for the filters and oil in the hydraulic system.  If there is one please let me know.  The filters will not last forever and the oil should last a long time, but not forever.  It does not get contaminated by combustion byproducts as engine oil does.  Seems like once every 5 years would not be too often.  I don't know of any easy way to do a complete oil change as about half of the oil is in the pump, fan motors, power steering, and hoses.  It is relatively easy though to remove the oil and filters from the reservoir.  I think most people just do that.  I have been using Delo 15/40 in all the engines just like others to keep it simple.  Any name brand oil with the same specs would probably be okay, but I don't mix brands unless necessary.

Jerry, I have a 2001 with the ISM and the recommended oil and filter/s change is every 25,000 miles for the power steering/fan reservoir.

Thanks, maybe FT started that recommendation after mine was built.  Seems reasonable.
