Whats it worth

I have my 1999 U295 40' build #5400 for sale on severial sites at 65K absoutely no bites, which tells me price is to high. What do some of you think it's worth Good to better condition, under cover (last 6 years) when not in use, every thing works as it should, Tv's are LED, 75K for miles, 5 yr old tires and house batts. Thanks

Your best bet is call MOT, get their input and list with them. Will get you maximum yield in long run, I believe.

Tim you are probally right, the avgrage person looking for a motorhome doesn't have a clue about the quality of  Foretravel products

Tough time of year plus nearly impossible to finance over 10 years now. 55 to 50k unfortunately. Talk to MOT.

This is very true. Most people think "Winnebago" first and "Itasca" second when they start looking at motor homes. It's only when they get to the forums that they find out about the others; and often the Foretravel is depicted as out of range, price wise.

Right now all motor homes are in the basement as far as pricing goes. If you don't absolutely *have* to sell your coach you are better off holding off for a year or so. Too many units are on the market due to economic distress. Even MOT is slashing the prices!

I agree, but MOT will usually either have an educated buyer (foretravel) or can educate the buyer "why Foretravel" - that is why even net of commission in general they can find a buyer that "gets it". Coouple that with the piece of mind a buyer gets working with MOT, their reputation, and their PDI, they will usually get a higher price than an individual, so even after commisions the seller ends up with the same or more in their pocket.

Plus, if he dollars are anywhere near equal - let the pros sell it, why do you want to be showing the coach, and dealing with the general public?

All good comments 45 to 55k is likely where it would sell, but first you need a buyer with $$ instead of how much a mo. Likely will do some upgrades, floors, MCD shades,  some upholstery, and LED bulb change outs and hang on to it awhile until a buyer comes along. Brakes, rotors. calipers, axle seals are already done. Just can't do the consignment thing.

As a private party owner financing with a motor vehicle is wrought with all kinds of pit falls . When selling used vehicles my philosophy has always been buy here, pay here ,get it outta here, with a no deposit no return no sad song warrenty.

I wouldn't finance one for a buyer if he signed a 100 k agreement... Been there and done that with equipment.

X-2.  Recently closed selling a home (my mother's estate) on a land contract at the advice of the  estate's lawyer.  Never again!!!  And that lawyer is no longer with the firm!!!  What a headache.

I agree with several, do not owner finance.  This is a BIG hassle and could be a costly issue.  I would rather sell it at a loss than sell it for what I thought was fair and then get stuck with a headache or bigger loss.  I agree that MOT seems to be a logical choice.  Best wishes on however you proceed.

Bruce, just talk to MOT, Jason Haskins or Stewart Canty (800-651-1112).  The consignment route worked very good. I have bought three motorhomes there, the most recent got us into a FT that we just got home.  I have helped two friends and learned enough about MOT that I think it a good option. Their technical knowledge in Sales and dedicated service may give a potential buyer confidence.  You might read John Christmans experience with MOT on this forum.  I imagine FOT is good too.

 I am sorry you are selling for it reminds me of another thread about folks selling motorhomes.  I have read it three times with much sympathy for those that sell and do not want to.  In any case, best of luck.  Mike

Forgot to give you a bit on a recent sale, that goes to your question. I found a 4010 1999 U320 with one slide, LED tv, new tires and batteries, fresh oil/filters, for sale by individual.  I got it for $75K to a friend of mine that was looking.  I think this unusual price and especially how MOT helped my friend make this work with a trade.
