These were not avail for awhile, seems to be back in stock. This is what I would install if I the my muffler needed replacement.
Aero-Turbine Resonated Performance Muffler 5050L
Then for the exhaust wrap...

The link you Dave Head provided (above) again lists the Aero Resonator as "discontinued". I found a couple other links that may still work:

Price for the first link is $199 and the second $193. Second link says that it may not be available for long.

Has anyone installed a resonator on a 5.9 Cummins U225? Just had a long look under my coach and there is a gigantic muffler there so obviously whoever installed the Banks system didn't bother with the resonator.

Has anyone installed a resonator on a 5.9 Cummins U225? Just had a long look under my coach and there is a gigantic muffler there so obviously whoever installed the Banks system didn't bother with the resonator.
Can't believe they left that monster on there.  Has to weigh close 75 to a 100 lbs.  Considering the expense of the Banks system, you would think that they would have removed it.

Yeah... it's huge. Have you switched to a resonator? It's on my #1 do-list and I'd like to get the mod started ASAP. Would really like some info from those who have changed over.

Actually the banks stinger will increase the hp regardless of whether the muffler is there or not. It is independent of it but does a better job in our humble opinion with the muffler removed as less restriction. Banks would really like you to install their muffler system but I do not know if one is available for our units.

You got it John, In my world, it is such an obvious need, unless you are not aware.  Am glad I got it started here.  I am always thinking performance / efficient operation.  Fuel mileage improvement is just a side benefit.

I don't think that the resonator is engine dependent.  It is more dependent on the side of the intake exhaust pipe and output tail pipe.  You are probably 3" and converting to 4" would really help, but  if you have a exhaust brake it is probably best to stay with the size of the intake and exhaust sides of the exhaust brake, cause you are not going to want to change that.  I'm going to guess you are 3" unless someone has changed every thing.  If the resonator is 5" and you need to go down to 3", that is no problem because there are adaptors you can get welded in to go down to 3".

The only reason for the muffler or resonator is to quiet things down some.  The turbo meets the requirements of a muffler in most states.  So if you could put up with the noise, you could get rid of them all together.  But some LEO might just decide you need a muffler, so there lays the need for the resonator.  It looks like a muffler.

I put a 4040 XL aeroturbine muffler/resonator on my coach last year.  It replaced the stock Donaldson muffler. Stick with the size of exhaust pipe that you have to keep it simple.  I had to fabricate new brackets, buy a 90 degree ell and install some SS flex pipe to the chrome exhaust tip.  Exhaust pipe, ells, and fittings come in OD and ID sizes, so you have to buy the right sizes for the parts to fit together.  About a 6 week wait to get the SS ell.  Bought everything except the metal for the mounting brackets from companies I found on the internet. The XL model is longer and I believe a little quieter.  You can look straight though it, not much to cause back pressure.  Expect the shiny SS muffler to discolor as soon as you drive the coach.  If it has helped increase the power and mileage, I can't tell it, but hopefully a little.  The exhaust at idle is a little louder, but I don't notice any difference in the sound going down the road.  I had the drivers window open going up the Zion NP tunnel expecting a big racket, but it was rather quiet.

I got to say that I love my new set up.  I can not wait to take it out west and see it climb the mountains.  I think Dave's HP increase is next.

The engine side of the muffler (and, damn!, that thing is HUGE!!!) is a 3" diameter exhaust pipe. I'll have to get in there again and see whether it would be feasible to upgrade that to 4" dia. I didn't measure the exhaust pipe out of the muffler.

I'll have to wait until the area dries out a bit before I get into the system much further. I'm not sure if I can take that right-rear panel off... there is an access door just forward that opens next to the forward part of the muffler.

I can't believe how gigantic that muffler is. LOL

Your Cummins "Retarder" exhaust brake is probably 3", so if it is working and you plan on retaining it, you might as well stay with the 3" all the way from the engine to the rear.  But if you plan on changing to a Pac PRXB exhaust brake (which is already  set up with  4") and do it at the same time, then it would be feasible to change to a larger diameter exhaust from engine back.  But I see no benefit of going larger than 4".  If you go larger behind the existing 3" Retarder exhaust brake, I really doubt you will see and power gain.

All reports on this mod seem positive, but before I jump on the bandwagon I've got to ask one question.  If this is so great, why don't they come from the factory that way?

I am not certain, but my guess is the normal is muffler mind set.  Most folks have a hard time thinking past muffler, also the truck resonator I think is a recent item, like in the last 20 years or so.  Besides who ever heard of not using a muffler, some things are hard to change or accept.
I learned about them when I needed a muffler for my Detroit Diesel, the turbo noise was  way too harsh, I found an old 5" resonator laying around the shop, since it was short and simple to install, it went on.  Amazed now it cut the harshness from the exhaust.  Since it has no baffles, straight thru, felt it was a great idea and it works.
This is my story and I am sticking with it.  ;D
