Dash buzzer replacement

Has anyone ever had to replace the warning buzzer behind the dash?  I'm fairly certain mine is shot and FT parts said Javelina isn't supporting the PCB board anymore.

If the buzzer has quit buzzing, have you tried adjusting it-- small Phillips head screwdriver?

If you think you still need it, FOT parts last week told me Radio Shack has the buzzers.  I messed with the phillips screw, to make mine quiet.

I'll look again for the adjustment. Is it on the buzzer or a small POT off to the side?

I looked pretty carefully at the buzzer on my 1997 U295. I found no place to adjust the volume. It may not be original equipment. I adjust the volume with a piece of tape over the face of the buzzer.

It appears that one could replace the buzzer by cutting a couple of wires and attaching a new buzzer to the wires. Our buzzer hangs by the wires from the circuit board. It's not pretty, but it works.

On our 1993, the Phillips adjustment screw is on the top/easily seen and adjusted.

Foretravel calls that "buzzer" an enunciator. If mine stopped working, I would say a prayer of gratitude and go on about my business. It drives my wife crazy.

Horace,

At least on ours, I can turn the Phillips screw and totally silence it.

Steve added a switch to ours (tucked under the dash) when he was working on something that required the ignition on while we were camped.  We call it the "de-dinger".

Yes, leaving the ignition on without disabling the dinger can lead to an early happy hour and/or serious mental illness.

Well, here is what I'm looking at.

Pic 1 - is the buzzer and what looks to be a small POT of sorts that I assume would be volume control?

Pic 2 - Entire assembly

Pic 3 - Blow up of right side daughter board with another POT looking switch on it.

I tried turning the POT in pic 1, but nothing happened.  I didn't try the POT in pic 3 as my guess is that's for something else.  I can only get my phone in there to look, but I don't see any kind of adjustment in the buzzer hole.  Brett, is this where you're saying you can adjust yours?  If so, maybe I'll try sticking a phillips head screw driver in the hole and turning?

Benjie,

No, that looks totally different than the one on the 1993.  Might get some who have worked on your generation of board to comment.

This looks different from what is on my 96 U270.  I think the volume control pot can be seen in the first 2 pictures, just above and to the  right of the round black buzzer.  Has a slot for a small screwdriver and is white.  Probably best to use a nonmetallic screwdriver for turning it.  The buzzer looks like it is held in place with hot melt glue.  Any number of defective parts (resistors, transistors, etc)  could cause the buzzer not to function.

I know the enunciator noise is a PITA, but, it's saved me few times when I've left the batwing in the up position, and I've tried to take-off. It also lets me know when the air pressure is up to operating condition as I perform the other duties prior to taking-off.
