New Generator in the IH-45

I noticed when looking at a new IH-45 on the FOT web site that it has a different generator than usual. I think it is a EPS. Thought it was interesting. Looked them up and it looks like it uses a Kubota engine. Dave might know more about these.

Interesting - not the Onan hybrid 12/18 that have been used in some.

yes a 20kw genny but all LED lights.  Tyle Fore says that with all interior lights on, the coach only pulls 10 amps!  Amazing! And he also said that he has been able to run 4 AC's at the same time with the genny.

Assuming it is the new Onan 20 kw, that gives you 83 amp @ 240 OR 163 amp @ 120  Surely that is more than needed for a total electric coach with 4 A/C units, Seems Foretravel is trying to keep up with Newell or the Prevost converters.
I am delighted with my dumb lil 10 kw in quiet box.

Looks like it must be the Engine Power Source 20 kW.  In the link I'd posted, 146 amp @120 / 73 amp @ 240. 

They make a 9 and a 12 kW as well.  Wonder if they'll start showing up in Phenix and Nimbus?

New math ?  20,000 Watt = 83.3 Amp @ 240.  For the 73 amp = 17,520 Watt. 
Wonder where they get the 20,000 Watt rating ?

It's the standby power rating.  The Continuous is 17.5 kW as you calculated.

Oh yes, like the half gal ice cream is now 1.75 qts, Fuzzy ice cream, maybe they are trying to put us all on a diet ?

Interesting information on the gensets for the new coaches. I was talking with Cummins in Dec and they said they hated the hybrid ones and that they have had problems with them.  I thought to my self, my 12KW is enough for me right now.  Also, maybe Dave can shed some light on it but I have heard that when it gets hot out or the compartment gets hot, then the power produced will decrease a bit.

Generator design can get into interesting detail, for example normal generators  come in different temp ratings, such as 110C, 125C so as the temp goes up with ambient and loading, the actual temp can get into a critical area too, why the large cooling fans on the generator rotor, pulling air Thur the stator and venting out the side, not to be confused with engine cooling, that is a total different issue.
Sort of like, the more you know the more you realize you really do not know, but interesting area to dig into.
As for the 12-18 kw hybrid Onan, my info has been, the first early units were just replaced when they had an issue, but do not seem to have any issues since.  That info comes from the Cummins Atlantic Richmond Va shop.  Where I get some of my info.
What I find interesting, the new supplier seems to be a small generator packager outfit with two stores, other wise they list the Kubota service/parts outlets for service,  Generally these are not generator shops, but a Kubota engine shop.
Will be interesting to see how this works out. 
Power Tech does have some dealers who can do generator work, as said, most interesting how politics play.
For now, I will keep enjoying my 10-12 kw Power Tech/Kubota and sleep soundly.
