Steering stabilizers...........??

Do they work?.....great?  good?  or at all?

I've seen a couple/ read about a few/ but no one seems to have one installed.....hmm.

Prices vary greatly.....couple hundred to thousands.......

Tell me something about your experience.

My father-in-law had numerous steering stabilizers installed on a plethora of Winnebago motor homes over the past 30 years. I haven't seen any need for it on our U225 FT though. The steering seems remarkably stable to me; all the more so for being 19 years old!

Am familiar with the Safe T Plus-- have one on our U240 (same suspension as the U225).

Main thing it does for you is help return the wheel to center after a turn.

It may make handling with a blow out better-- never had one, so don't know.

I installed a Safe-T-Plus on a coach with a Freightliner XC chassis. I found it to be a significant improvement to the steering on that chassis. Our installation included the trim kit to allow centering from the driver's position.

I have not installed any "enhancements," other than new shock absorbers, on the Foretravel. I did have the coach aligned at FOT. The improvement in handling after the alignment was significant. The 1997 Foretravel with OEM parts has always handled better than the 1997 XC chassis did with all the "enhancements" I added for better performance.

A proper alignment can make a significant improvement if the wheels are not aligned well. I can recommend Wayne at FOT. My experience suggests avoiding at least one other "alignment specialist" in the area around Nacogdoches.
