Prosine error message

Well as I am playing around with switches and lights etc. I happened to notice an error message at the invertor sreen that read "Low bus voltage"  So I cleared it and now it reads "12.4v    +0A      91-F

    The charger standby led is lit and nothing I do puts it into charge mode. I am attempting to make sense of it with the manual but I thought I might take a shortcut by asking yhe experts if this is an issue or normal operation while plugged into A.C.?

D&D,

This should be the manual for your Prosine. 


There's a troubleshooting section towards the end.

Are you seeing a readout on the Power Line Monitor confirming that you've got power from the AC hookup?

     Hi Michelle. Yes, there is AC power showing. I went back through the last 20 error messages and found that one 3 times. I may call Xantrex tomorrow to go through it with them. My eyes have pretty much glazed over at this point.

This maybe a shot in the dark but, , go into the big bay and pull the cover over the main DC panel on the side wall. Unhook the positive line to the Prosine. Unplug the shore power. Wait a few min. (10 ) Hookup DC line to Prosine first, then plug in shore power. There is a possibility it's little electronic brain might be cleared of cobwebs and it may start to charge again Gary O

ALSO  Be ready for a small arc of electricity when you touch the positive line to the terminal. It's supposed to do that. Just try to keep from arcing too much while your tighting the nut. Gary O

           Thanks Gary. My only question is will that clear all the set-up so that I have to re-configure it? Not sure I am proficient enough for that yet.

No It should go to factory defaults or to what ever the dip switches are set to if you do not have the ACS control panel. That is the one that has a digital read out.

The one time my Prosine was giving me fault messages and refusing to work, I turned off the circuit breakers and the battery disconnect, removing all power from the unit.  Waited a bit, turned everything back on, and the fault was cleared.  Good as new.

After I had first bought my coach Had similar problem with the prosine. I called xantech and they gave me the same instructions as Gary Omel. I believe they called it a "hard core reboot"
This did not work in my case, but MOT graciously replaced the prosine.

   FYI, We have been on the road for the last two days and I finally had a chance to call FT this afternoon. All I had to do was power off the inverter and wait a few minutes. I re-booted it and all seems well now.

I have been waiting to hear from you. Now that it is charging again. Please do a simple check. After you have been on shore power for several hours, lay your hand on the side of your house batteries. If, one of them is hotter than the other (others), you may have a bad or partly shorted battery. This may be the reason the Prosine went on coffee break and never came back. Note, This only a simple non scientific observation, but if you have a warm or hot one, disconnect it from the system and have all of them load tested. I don't care how new or how old they are, It may save big $$$$ .

   Good info Gary. I will do that this later morning and let you know what I find. The batterys were one of my concerns when I bought the coach as I had heard how expensive they are to replace. FT assured me they had been load tested and were fine. Time will tell.

  By the way they charged overnight and now the display reads "Ready" and 13.4V  +12A  and 99-F.

Gary,
        I finally had a chance to get out my laser temp. reader and check the batteries. The inner one read 95-F and the outer one was about 104-F.

    It's about 10-F difference. Do you think that's enough to warrent further checking?

No, probably not. Just keep a watch on the read out. If the amps start randomly changing (10-15),check the batteries again and maybe do another hard boot. If it keeps running normal, great! If it happens again, You will need to do some serious checking on the DC power .

Do you only have two house batteries? I'm not familiar with the 03 U270.

   Yes, only two house batteries. All seems well with the invertor/charger now. Thanks for all your help.

    I picked up a good multi-meter yesterday. I thought it may be a handy item to have onboard with all the various systems to keep up with.

      This morning I have been reading up on the Allison Trans. and retarder making sure I am using it correctly. Much to learn but it's kind of fun.
