Really cheap running FT Diesel Pusher on Oodle...

Interesting 35' Diesel pusher RVs: 1983 Foretravel 98K miles 35' Class A Motorhome - Sarasota, Florida, not much detail, but at $5k, cheapest I have ever seen... Add says it is running and has 90-something-K miles and rebuilt motor and trans... obviously needs some fixing, but I imagine for someone with more time and inclination than money or sense, this could be a killer deal ;D

If that is a ORED with a 3208 Cat it could be a fixer upper.  HOWEVER, roof leaks in that flat roof can be a real challenge.  If it leaks in just one small area the water can migrate the length of the coach and finding it will be a costly adventure.  Its too bad that these old coaches get into such a condition.

An 83 ored probably had a 8.2 detroit v8 diesel. They were pretty underpowered

Looks like a perfect south of the border rig to me. At $3500 or so, you could drive it down and use it like an apartment. Looks decent enough so one would not feel badly driving it. I could see "Corazon" on both sides with a nice painting of the tropics. A Cat would really make the deal.

Our 1989 Foretravel 36' GV has the DD 8.2 V8 250HP. Yes, it is underpowered but we have, because of this lack of "muscle" plan our routes off the beaten path and have really discovered the more leisurely pace, the lesser traffic, all the novel sights not normally seen along high speed interstates. The DW loves taking pics of things we never saw when we were "flying" from place to place in the auto.
Example: We came up thru Frederick, OK, continued 9 miles to Manitou, then east 5 miles, then left, up to Frederick "city" park. We were the only ones there, had water and electric hookup, had the bath houses to ourselves, the host told us to take all the dried firewood we needed, and it cost a whole $12/day. It has nice pull-thru sites, a large man-made lake, and about a hundred sites. No traffic noise, was quiet night and day, walk with the cat anywhere. All in all, we probably wouldn't find anything on the high traffic/high speed routes. We also found diesel prices were lower.

Why did I think of Brett and Diane's South American Adventure when I read this? :D

Michelle,

No, too long-- 24' is max on one of the ferry boats.

Besides, would not count on a DD 8.2 liter 4 stroke on that long a trip anyway.  Cummins, Cat or DD 2 stroke, yes.

Hope ya'll didn't get caught in any bad weather leaving the Cat RV Club Rally.
