Magic eraser Yes or no...

Today I pulled my bus out for a wash down. I'm driving up for new headlights @ Xtream tomorrow and wanted it to look descent for the trip.. after 2 hours of scrubbing I noticed some black stains under my windows, soap and brush would not pull it off so I tried a ''wet'' Magic eraser under one of the windows and Bam it's gone.
Is this ok for the Gelcoat??  After it dried the shine was still there and I didn't see any scratches in the gelcoat

I'd be very careful with that Mr Clean stuff.  I've heard it will take clear coat off.  And I found the following on a Kitchen Tips site on the web:

"Mr. Clean Magic Erasers have been around for a few years which means it's likely you have given them a try.  I happen to love them for many, but not all, cleaning jobs.  I particularly like that they only require water to lift dirt.
For this kitchen tip I thought we might be able to give each other some ideas for how to use them in the kitchen.
Warning: While Mr. Clean Magic Erasers work very well on some things, they are too harsh for other things and can cause scratching or remove paint.  Always use them cautiously and try a test spot if you are unsure.  Just because they do not cause damage to a particular item in my kitchen does not mean they will not damage yours.  I think the amount of pressure you use also affects how harshly it cleans."

Before going to the Magic Eraser, I would have tried baking soda and a toothbrush, or actual toothpaste.  They are both abrasives, but MUCH finer.

Years ago we used to use Westley's Bleche-White tire cleaner on our fifth wheel to remove black streaks. Bad now??

Thanks for the feed back.. So it looks like when I get it back I'll get a closer look and see if I left any scratches...

I have used Magic Eraser to remove saltwater stains from gelcoat on my boats.  I've never seen any harm done.

Yes Amos, Samething here..I live out on Padre island and I think the spots that show up is due to the very salty air.and 2 Bob I will ask on pick up if I don't forget,Thanks.
