coolant filtration

I recently changed my coolant to volvo purple heavy duty pre charged (with sca) antifreeze. the water filter on my engine has been there two years (15000 mi), and is a fleetguard 4 unit filter. the test strips show the sca to be within the proper limits.

I got to thinking that the sca may be fine, but maybe the filter should be changed.  I purchased a non chemical filter (0 units of sca) and put it on the engine.  I test my coolant regularly and keep the sca at acceptable limits so I can try to avoid engine damage, water pump seal failure etc.

my question is, besides the release of sca into the system, what is the life expectancy of the filters to actually filter the coolant, before they should be changed?

thanks wayne

Wayne,

Filter life depends on the filter.  Take a look at the two types of filters Fleetguard offers: Water Filtration

As always, for an RV application we have to take the time element with a grain of salt.

Though you need to confirm that these are current Fleetguard numbers, but my record show WF2123 is the larger capacity quality BLANK  and the WF2122  the smaller BLANK.

I use the WF2123 and change it every three years.
