No, he did not match it up correctly, though it should have worked for your test.
A starter solenoid is INTERMITTANT DUTY.
A boost solenoid needs to be a CONSTANT DUTY SOLENOID.
Some solenoids have one small terminal (which would be the 12 VDC positive signal from the boost switch). Ground is through the solenoid body screwed to a good metal contact.
Some solenoids have two small terminals, with one being the signal terminal and the other is the ground terminal.
The one and two small terminals units are interchangeable, as long as it is a constant duty solenoid.
