Unfortunately Dori & I will not be able to attend the rally. :( We are still working on our condo to get it ready to sell. The good news is painting is almost finished. The bad news is we still have the kitchen remodel left to go plus a friends wedding in Albuquerque, NM.

All of you who are going you will have a blast. Dori & I spent 2 weeks last September at the Alpen Rose RV Park. It's a very nice park and is right across the highway from the Durango/Silverton railroad tracks. There are 2 trains that run in the morning and the evening. It's great fun to go out and wave at the passengers as they go by. We highly advise taking the train ride to Silverton. Also make some time to drive the million dollar highway. Fun, fun, fun. Also take in the Steamworks Brewery in downtown Durango. Great beer & food.

Hope to make the Four Corners Rally next year!

We are still working on our travel plans after the Mid South Chapter Rally in Montgomery, Tx  April 26th (sign up now will be lots of fun) .  If all goes to plan we are coming that way and will certainly look in on the 4 Corners Rally.  Should know be end of this month.  Dan & Shirley

I just received a bit more detail from Kenney Lemon (through his wife, Ann) regarding the Rally activities; it adds to the information posted by Barry above.  First, a quick recap/update regarding dates/location:

Dates:  arrive May 22; depart May 29 (make your own reservations)
Location:  Alpen Rose RV Park, Durango, CO (www.alpenroservpark.com); 970-247-5540
Rates:  $33.11 per day (full hookups, wifi, cable TV) for Rally participants

The Park just opened (April 1) and they have been swamped returning messages for reservations.  Sites are going fast (there's another rally planned for the same time).  If you haven't already, plan to call soon!

Please advise Kenney Lemon (President, Four Corners Chapter) of your reservations and specific dates:

Tuesday (5/22)
    3:30pm:  GET TOGETHER (bring appetizers)

Wednesday (5/23)
    anytime:  DOWNTOWN DURANGO (Kenney and Ann will have sightseeing, shopping, and other information)
    LUNCH:  ON YOUR OWN
    6:00pm (DINNER):  DIAMOND BELLE'S (Diamond Belle Saloon in Durango Colorado); more information from Ann will be available regarding menu, separate checks, etc.
    7:00pm:  GUNFIGHT - located just outside Diamond Belle's

Thursday (5/24)
    9:15am:  MESA VERDE NATIONAL PARK (Mesa Verde National Park - Mesa Verde National Park); 42 miles - about an hour's drive from the RV Park (per Google maps)
    LUNCH AND DINNER:  ON YOUR OWN

Friday (5/25)
    TRAIN RIDE TO SILVERTON (www.durangotrain.com/ride-us)
    - 3 trains to Silverton, departures at 8:30am, 9:15am, and 9:45am
    - Trains return to Durango at 5:45pm, 6:15pm, and 6:45pm
    - Also train/bus combinations (with trains or buses running either direction; see website)
    - Reservations should be made in advance (no open seating)
    - Parking lot tickets ($7) may be purchased in advance with train tickets
    - Parking for the train is about 6.5 miles from the RV Park (10 minutes, per Google maps)
    - Train (only) prices range from $83 to $179 per person round trip
    - Pick up tickets the day before; passengers must be seated 30 minutes before departure
    - Cancellation fee $14 per person; no refund within 48 hours prior; no shows are non-refundable
    LUNCH AND DINNER:  ON YOUR OWN

Saturday (5/26)
    9:30am:  DRIVE TO OURAY (about 50-60 miles over the Million Dollar Highway); Ouray is called the Little Switzerland of America, and has hot springs (www.ouraycolorado.com).
    OR:  FOUR CORNERS MARKER (about 84 miles away) - Four Corners National Monument (there is only a marker, and small visitor center, at this site on the Navajo Indian Reservation)
    LUNCH AND DINNER:  ON YOUR OWN

Sunday (5/27)
    11:00am (BRUNCH):  SKY UTE CASINO (www.skyutecasino.com); Aspen Room Buffet offers a $12.95 Sunday champagne brunch from 11am to 2pm; more information from Ann will be available regarding menu, separate checks or pay in advance, etc.
    5:00pm (DINNER):  POT LUCK

Monday - Memorial Day (5/28)
    3:30pm:  BUSINESS MEETING - FOUR CORNERS CHAPTER
    5:15pm (DINNER AND SHOW):  Meet to go to BAR "D" CHUCKWAGON (BAR D Chuckwagon | Durango Colorado Family Entertainment)
    - Prices from $22 to $33 - choice of sliced roast beef, chicken, beef/chicken combo, or ribeye steak
    - Dinner begins 7:30pm (ticket booth/shops open 5:30pm); followed by old west music & comedy show
    - More information will be available regarding group reservations, where to pay, etc.

Tuesday (5/29) - RALLY OVER

A postscript to the rally:  For rally attendees, thank you for your prayers and good wishes. Nadine is well into a great recovery from her surgery.  We arrived home today on the 17th day of a 7-day trip.

For those who were not at the rally, Nadine had emergency gall bladder surgery the second day of the rally. Due to some minor complications and the Memorial Day weekend, she spent eight days in the hospital.

All is well, thanks again.

Glad to hear everything is going good for Nadine now! Thanks for posting it we were wondering about her and wish her a fast recovery!
