electrical lighting question

Rear bedroom reading light(double bulb) over curb side will not turn on with push button switch. The puc(10W) for bedside table does turn on with the reading lamp switch  and only the street side puc light works with the overhead control. I can't figure out why this is happening and why there is communication with the reading light switch and the puc light ( this started today and both had been working as designed). Coach is a 2000 U295 36'.
I don't have electrical diagrams. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

      Thanks again,

I have the same coach and year and on the lamp with push button (if this is the adjustable lamp one) then check the bulb and then try turning the bulb a little off both ways. I found ours lights fractionatly before the 2 pins on bulb lock into their usual place. These bulbs have 2 contacts and sometimes they act up. The switch is also suspect to not making contact. I took both fixtures off and took them apart to tighten a few things up.
The 10w halogen could be a new bulb needed or again bad contact on the pins. Make sure you use a tissue or cloth to hold bulb as they are sensitive to oil on hands and once hot will blow.
I just reread your comment and something is screwwy as the halogen works off the switch above bed but the side of bed adjustable lights have power at those push buttons all the time.
Try again then take apart.

John,

I took the bulbs out of the reading light and the puc light didn't come on. Put one bulb back in and the puc light came on as before. The reading light still doesn't work. Will take lights apart when i get to next destination.

          Thanks for your advice,

Could be a bad ground wire somewhere. Bad grounds cause strange things to happen.

Are you sure it is not just intermittent contact at the bulb. Those double contact bulbs are knowned to be intermittent.
I removed the bulb holder, drilled out the rivet and used a Dremel to grind inside to allow conversion to standard single contact, base grounded bayonet bulbs. I did this to both bedroom fixtures and the fixture in the living room. These fixtures are all totally reliable now.

Thanks for the helpful advice! Mark at FOT suggested I track down a possible bad ground. So off to the races looking for the needle in coach or something like that.

This morning everything is working as it should. I never had time to track down the ground so this problem fixed itself for now. The only explanation I have is that we have been dry camping in 100+ temps for weeks and the coach is doing weird things ie; corian swelling, some wood separation (floor and cabinets), frig not cooling (setting of 2 for 18 months but now on 5 will not cool frig side), 12 volt lighting as sated above. Guess the ghost are active in the west.
