Tires

Anyone running 295 75R 22.5s  instead of 275 80'S on the 95-2000 model coaches? They are almost identical in size, the only problem I could see would be if you dumped the suspension and tried to move the coach(the 275's rub now). The reason I am contemplating this is you have way more tire choices with the truck tire size rather than the 275 80's.

My coach had 295's on it when I bought it 12 years ago and I've kept with that size - doesn't seem to be a problem.  I think there are a lot of owners who have done that for the very same reasons you mention.

I have run 295s for years with no problem.

I am going to get new ones today at $382 minus $70 for my old tires or $312 down the highway.

I can choose Toyo or Hankook.  I have run both for years with no problems and great ride.

Those using 295 instead of 275, please tell us the rest of the tire size numbers after the slash.

Mine are 295/75R 22.5 which are the same diameter as 275/80 22.5.

The 295/80R 22.5 is too large in diameter for my 1995 U320 coach.  These tires are not often used by the truckers and are much harder to find due to fewer manufactures making that size and cost more as a result.  Michelin and Goodyear are two manufactures that do make this size.

Thank goodness, I do not need the weight carrying capacity of the 295/80R 22.5 tires.  My coach grosses at 32k pounds while I seem to remember seeing the new multi-slide coaches at a gross of 42k pounds.

I just learned about this very large Korean manufacturer.  The tires for the BMW are due for a change.  I had done the research with Consumer Reports.  The reports on this brand are very good.  Definitely will consider the Kumho's for the Beamer.  Now I may have to check out dealers locally for the Foretravel.  I know no one can come close to the price for the BMW tires.

Thats the reasion I'm going with the 295's can't deal with the $500+ cost of the "RV special" tires, and no resale on the old ones.

I will second Toyo as had them on the 7 BMW for many years and absolutely loved them and held the road better than the original Mich'. I now have Toyo on the front of coach as I had damage on one so of course put both sides on. The trip to Cody etc was short but they steered and rode fine. Will replace the rears when time with the Toyo.

On my 1996 U280 36ft I replace the Michelin 275/80R22.5 with Bridgestone R250F load range G size 295/75R22/5 at Southern Tire Mart, Ardmore, Ok at a cost mounted and balanced $2396.25 on Nov 7th 2011. 

The diameter of the 295/75R22.5 is 40.2 inches, with Revs per mile of 517

I have had no trouble does not touch anywhere when air dumped, also ride smooth

Kumhos and Toyos make great DOT race tires - very common in SCCA, etc. Great prices. I ran Kumhos on my Audi V8q - a big noisier than the Dunlops, but great grip and wear.

Both those above and Hankook have great reps in the commercial tire arena.
