Basement Storage 1993 U-280

I am looking for creative ways to organize the front basement - the one that has the large access from the drivers side & a smaal access door on the passenger side.  It is a difficult space to utilize efficiently.  I am hoping those of you who have gone before me have already "invented that wheel" so I can learn from ya'll.

Anyone build in shelves?  It is the "man" basement - tools and such.  We currently have things in storage bins but of course the thing we want/need at any given time is in the back which requires unloading the the whole thing!

Suggestions, pics.  All would be appreciated.

You could purchase a Joey bed. While these slide out, they do take up some space.

Christi and Ray, In my 280 I placed two 6 inch square plastic hollow "fence posts " against the rear bulkhead, one on top of the other , these hold awning rods, brushes, long handles items, flags etc. They extend across the bay and are accessible from both sides.  I also attached two sets of Broom Hangers to the rear bay wall to place fishing rods etc on.

We use the space for a Dometic chest refrigerator/freezer.  I fits nicely and is handy to the entry door.

Christi and Ray,
On our coach not only is there the stairway on the passenger side but also the radiator duct for the generator on the drivers side.  When we fulltimed we put our off-season clothes in suitcases between there.  Besides that I consider that area my "deep" storage because you have to dig it out.  Definitely put stuff I don't expect get at very often - like the awing room that we hardly ever seem to use.

Every basement bay in our coach has a Joey Bed and they do make it easier to get to items; especially in the long (7') bay in the U225. But I still have to unload most of the stuff because everything I want seems to be under something else. Like the dog kennel has to be folded flat and is so big that it has to go at the very bottom. So I often find myself pulling the Joey Bed clear out and then taking stuff off of it 'til I get what I need, then reloading it and pushing it back.

Joey Beds are better than nothing, though... plus they make wonderful rides for the grandkids.

The big bay in the middle has a joey bed - very convenient - loaded with bins!  The hard bay is the one just forward of the big one.  On the passenger side it has a very small door & opening and on the drivers side a larger door but part of the storage space is back behind a large black thing we have yet to identify.

I found some plastic shelves on CL for about $8 and they fit perfectly side by side in the space behind the big black thing.  (Anyone who would like to chime in and name the big black thing that would be awesome)

At least now we can reach most things without having to unload the entire bay!

That big black thing could be an inverter

Big black thing looks like the air exhaust for the generator.

Guess that I did not look close enough as that is indeed the air intake for the radiator on the generator
