Trimetric, Battery Management

I posted earlier when I was deciding which battery management system to get. I ended up with a Trimetric 2025A, about the same setup as John Haygarth's. I went with the Trimetric for two reasons: 1. It will monitor two batteries (only voltage on the second set); 2. I prefer its display to the others. Anyhow, installation was pretty straightforward. The biggest problem I had was trying to find the 4 ot cable. Man, that stuff is scarce around here! Price was right about $200 (Trimetric, shunt, wire, in-line fuse). Here are a couple of photos for anyone that might be considering something similar in a c. 99 320.

Is that the shunt in the foreground?

It's the gold deal mounted to the compartment ceiling.

Ok thanks. By monitoring two batteries I assume you mean the house "bank" and the starting "battery". I am going to have to get one of these for the solar panel installation. Holding off because the Amex card is creeping upwards and I need to crank it down a bit before I start back in buying gear.

I still need to get the a/c tools in order to get that system back into operation.

Thanks for the pictures. :)

Keep in mind that the right shape shunt can be bolted directly to the battery ground terminal and the battery cable removed from the ground terminal can be bolted to the other side of the shunt. This eliminates a connection and a second short large diameter battery cable.

Hey, I wasn't aware of that. Thanks, Barry. I bought the one that they offered with the Trimetric. Of course, it has to have the screws for the appropriate connections.
