2000 u320 40'

We looked at the coach for sale in Holland MI. Has anyone else looked at this coach? It would be our 2nd foretravel.  It's been at a dealer for several yrs and we made an offer on it. Is the 2000 yr affected by the bulkhead trouble? What is the best way to check this?

Any help would be most appreciated; we really enjoy the experience and advice on this forum.  Thanks to all.

Bob,

The most comprehensive info on inspection and repair starts with Brett's post, which includes FT's whitepaper, here:  Bulkhead Repair-- A Comprehensive Look

If it is the one with 53,xxx on RV trader at Holland suggest through PDI, I would look at tire age, battery age, bladder seal and slide operation, aqua hot operation, generator and refrigerator. Low mileage not a plus, lack of use a negative for an RV.

Bulkhead easily checked, and usually any issue is minor and not costly to correct, but on a few coaches is a bigger issue. No upgrades to speak of ( lacks full body paint, headlights/taillight conversion, flat panel TV's, flooring upgrade). If ask is $144K, that is significantly above recent sales in market.  MOT and FOT may be able to share recent sale prices on similar units. I own the same coach (2000 4010) with all the mentioned upgrades and suspect I would get something slightly north or south of $100K if I were to sell.

Good luck with your search, welcome to the forum, keep those questions coming!

I'm glad to hear that. Two years ago we paid $80K for a great 40 ft U320. All it really lacks from the one you're looking at is a slide (which we would not want anyway).

So how much is a slide worth?

Slides are worth a lot as most units now have them and not having them is a huge issue for resale and they mark them down a lot.  I think that four is too much and thus you are seeing three now in new ones  as well as four. If I were to build a coach now, it would not have a slide and I have two of them currently.  I think that the older coaches without slide were more livable on the road though if you are sitting for more than a week a slide sure is nice.

I still haven't figured this one out. The only uses I've come up with for slides is when you have guests or give dancing lessons.

What is nice about having a slide if you are sitting in a spot for more than a week?

Last weekend we visited Gary and Jane Bouland in their 95 U280 (no slide). While we were there only about a hour or so, we didn't feel at all crowded. True, there wasn't much room for dancing, but an RV really isn't the place for dancing anyway.

We dance under the main awning, plenty of room there!
