7.5 dkd Kabota Diesel Gen

Belt driven altenator has 2 rough spots when rotating pulley with fingers. Threw a belt and wrecked the fan as well. Ordered new parts and the alt is $349.41.  Crapola I said even though not shocked. I learned long ago not to get shocked but not necessarily ticled. It is what it is... I need my generator.$478.08 including shipping should get this puppy up and genning again plus another $100.00 for my mobile mechanic. Don't expect something to last forever but we sure find ourselves wishing it would.

The DKD is a great generator, but like everything else, you need to do just a little TLC, they need the fan belt every few thousand hours at minimum.  Pain in the butt to change but, easy if you have the wrenches and lil savy.
AS many as I ever replaced the V Belt, never needed a new DC alternator nor fan blades.  Bet it make a noise, wonder how you found it, or did it stop from over temp shutdown?

I was letting the gen run for some exercise and I heard the comotion when the belt came off and got around 2 of the fan blades. I immediatly shut it down. It has been a dandy of a generator. Has 7k plus hours. Don't know if I will ever need another but if I do I can't complain. My gen is not on a pull out tray so it required my 22 yr old nephew to get his head in where it needs to be. My knees and neck don't work like before but he can use the dough and I can use the help. Good for all.

Great, and at 7k hours, your only half way thru its life. Take care of it, and it will surely take care of you.
