Chaney refrigerator wireless thermometer - upgraded model available

The popular Chaney wireless refrigerator thermometer 00985 has been upgraded. . .

It appears that the manufacturing company is Acurite and some new 00986 models have the name Acurite instead of Chaney.

We feel that this or something similar is needed to know what is going on inside our freezer & refrigertor without opening the door.  If something raises the inside temps, optional adjustable audible alarms can head off a disaster.

I contacted the manufacturer about the new model number and below is their response:

"Thank you for contacting Chaney Customer Support regarding your model # 00985.  We continue to update software with our units, the number 00986 reflects that update.

Please find the link below for the updated unit available on our website.

Hey Barry and Cindy:

At what level in your AC fridge do you place the remote sensor? Where did you place it in your old absorption fridge (for those of us who have not ungraded)?

Thanks

Try it on top, middle & bottom to see what temps it reports. Anywhere will work. I just reports.

I moved it around to see how different the temps can be.

Another use for this product would be in the water bays to give a cold/freeze temp warning while out in cold weather.

We use remote reading thermometers from La Crosse Technology <http://www.lacrossetechnology.com>; to monitor the bays in cold weather. They work well, but battery life is poor. The system we use allows up to three remote sensors.
