Moving VMSpc to new laptop

I recently picked up a nice Acer 11.6" TimelineX with a mobile dual core i7 processor, bumped the cache to 8gb and replaced the hard drive with a nice 128gb solid state drive. Running Win7 64 it is snappy (15 sec boot time) and with an 8 hour battery life it is perfect for what I want. To setup VMSpc on the new pc, I re-downloaded the software and installed it, then installed the serial to USB driver Silverleaf recommends (I still use the older serial model with a "Cable's to Go USB adapter").
Then I plugged in the USB adapter, told it not to search Windows Update. It found and set up the driver. I noted what comm port it assigned.
I then went to my old laptop and saved a copy of the default file (*.SCR) to my thumb drive (NOTE! If you do this within VMSPC it will error the next time you open it because its looking for the new saved location for the file. If so, just re-open the original file name). I copied the file to the default c:\VMSPC directory, opened VMSPC and selected the file name (menu, File, open).
I then set the comm port in VMSPC to the correct value. walked out to the truck, plugged in the laptop and started the engine.

All my original screen settings settings were transferred. Last step is to match any engine corrections made in the old system.

I moved mine over too. It was not hard.  Had to download the right driver and hit install. It works great.  I got the Acer at Costco for 350 bucks or so.

What's nice about the TimelineX is its very small like a netbook, but it still has a full size keyboard and has like twice the power of my work HP. I added the good old 'mouse mover' utility so the laptop won't power down from inactivity. It wiggles the mouse pointer every 10 seconds. Totally frustrates IT lock down privileges...
