1998 FT U270 at MOT

My saga continues in my quest to purchase a 36 U270 FT from MOT.  I thought I had my Gearbox Toyhauler sold so I could purchase the FT but the buyer got cold feet.  I called MOT and asked about trading in my Gearbox and to my surprise they take trades.  I don't know what kind of price they will give me but I am ready to trade.  Has anyone used a trade-in at MOT?  I hope to be at MOT in a week or so.

The U270 I am looking at has window seal creep in some of the windows.  What are the repair options? Cost?  How about tint on the outside to hide the gasket?

yes they take trades - I traded in my first OREG 89 to them for my 1999 36 U-270. WHen I went back and bought my 2000 40' U-320 single slide I put my coach there on consignment and it sold in weeks (priced to market). There is a wholesale RV market and they will give you wholesale or there abouts for your RV. You MIGHT b able to do better selling by yourself, or you might not and wait a long time. more costly and convenient to trade, but I think they are reasonable to deal with

Terry,

The last time we had talked to someone to remove, repair, & replace the seals was about $150-200 per window. If you are meticulous, are somewhat a handyman, and have a day free you can do the job yourself. We didn't stress as to trying to do more than one window at a time. We figured that we had about $50-75 in materials per window. Somewhere here on the site John H. (I think) gave us the info as to where to get the materials and a how to lesson.  Here is a link to the thread that has some info http://www.foreforums.com/index.php?topic=13595.msg75758#msg75758    You can see John's info if you look down through here.  The short of the story is don't let a little thing like the window seals kill the deal.

My 199 U-270 had the snakes in the windows - just lived with them - they didn't get worse, just looked awful Their is a shop in Hudson FL that fixes them while you wait as well, had good reviews

Terry,
Suncoast Designers in Hudson, FL can answer your questions on costs and options.
They are very familiar with Creation Window repairs and have experience with FT's.
I didn't use Suncoast, but I've heard very good reviews of their work.
When I was looking at repair options, they seemed to have the most reasonable pricing and an attractive, "customer focused" attitude/setup.
Like Tim says, it's not something that you have to urgently address.  Cosmetic..........work it into your travels.................wherever you have it done.

We had four windows removed, repaired (entirely new seals and glass) and reinstalled at Peninsula Windows, in Vancouver, WA this summer. Excellent work, great price and reasonably quick; one stop to measure, then a half-day for installation. The cost of repair is $300.00 flat rate per window regardless of its size or shape. We were very pleased with the firm, price and workmanship.

We traded in our gas motorhome almost 5 years ago at MOT when we bought our 2001 U270  36 ft.  We got wholesale for our trade, but also a good deal on the coach since it had been on consignment for a while.  MOT is great to deal with, great service, etc.

Best of luck with your purchase of your FT.
