Solar powered Fridge/Freezer - from Sundanzer

As I've followed along reading all of the postings regarding Fridge/freezer options many of you have explored, I thought I would provide this link to one that I have found interesting:

Upright Combination solar powered refrigerators and freezers

Sundanzer Solar Products Reviews

Also attached is a picture of my Dometic. It appears to have never been used, or maybe only very lightly.
Other than pushing the power button to confirm that it lit up when I first got the Coach, I have yet to power it up over time to check if it actually works properly. I do not have a shore power hook-up where I am doing my restoration.

But because I do run the gen-set for  2-4 hours every other weekend, tomorrow I'll see how much cooling I can get from it in that amount of time.

Anyone have any pro/cons in their experience for my particular model?

I am also spooked over the idea of even running it on propane, with all of the scary stories out there.

Regards,

Michael

I have a 93 U300 but the fridge looks just the same as your photo. Mine also looks new and it is the original from 1993 according to its labels. It works great on both propane and AC. Be sure to inspect the tubing on the cooling unit for rust or any signs of leakage. Again, my 93 looks like new. If you see any potential rust through or leaks, don't fire it up on propane for sure. A fire could be the result. I would even be reluctant to use it on electricity but many people do.

If your cooling unit looks good, go ahead and fire yours up but remember it does take several days to cool all of the way down. Putting bags of ice in when first cooling it down does help speed up the process.

We have the 7030 model looks identical. Looks new and has been working well for us on both propane ( mostly) and on electric. As we full time we don't ever shut it off.

Looks to be the same two door fridge that I have. When we first started using it it didn't cool very well on electric or gas. I checked in back and found one of the two electric heating elements was burned out.Replaced it and electric worked great. Them found that the gas flame looked OK but didn't cool the fridge much.Removed and cleaned the orifice in the gas line at the burner and readjusted the air to the burner. The fridge has worked well now for 3 years on gas or electric  at a setting of #4.Cold beer and ice for my Stoli Doli.Life is good.Gam

Most of the scary stories are about the other brand.  And it will take a very long time for your fridge to cool down.  I give mine 24 hours and put cold stuff in there to help.  They are not efficient in the initial cooling period.

But that info on the solar stuff is outstanding!!  And I see where it is so important to the military.  But not good for where one would end up with 12 inches of snow on top of the panels.
