Winn fuel system

Robert Gibson ( MC12990 ) called me t'day to ask for help on his Winn fuel filter.  It is apparently cracked and is allowing air into the system resulting in shut down.  I do not have this system and was of no help to him.  He is having problems in posting on the forum and asked that I request help for him
If you have a Winn Fuel system and can give him some help his Email address is robertgibson42@me.com.
Thanks guys

Winn / Racor make hundreds of filtering systems, so not knowing what he has, leaves it wide open to guessing.  It could be just a simple filter setup or it could be the filter/pump/bleed system.
Maybe a little info would go along way to help.

The Winn/Racor used on my and other Foretravel coaches uses the 200200 system, and the most frequently needed is the plastic bowl with the two O Rings on the 300200 Bowl.
I keep 2 spares, but sure available thru any Racor dealer.

Gary, I have done quite a few emails with Robert, gotten into what he has and the likely cause and fix and offered to help him get the parts if the phone numbers I gave him do not work.  Sounds like an o-ring problem, maybe a bit more, but think we on the right track to get this fixed up.

Started to leave Las Cruces yesterday and the engine started twice and died twice.  I immediately got a sinking feeling in my stomach.  Opened up the back engine cover to look at the Winn 200200 and saw the clear bowl was empty.  Pressed the purge button and saw fuel flowing into the bowl and leaking from the bottom of the pump.  Posted on this forum and Jeff S sent me a PM suggesting I call Carol his DW because they had the same type of issue and changed their filter/separator to a different type and she never forgets anything (Jeff said).  Carol S is such a kick.  We, my DW and Carol S had a wonderful conversation where she gave me part numbers for parts they used to convert to a non 12 volt pumping system to a single filter/separator system.  I called Cummins this AM, Jeff and Carol's repair facility in Albuquerque, and Racor and a bunch of other people to try to nail down this problem.  I also Called a local mobile RV/truck repair company to get their input.  I decided to have the RV/truck diesel repair (mobile) guy out to get his input.  To make a long story short - There are three "O" rings that he replaced.  One of the, the one that was causing the leak was installed incorrectly by someone and it was rolled so it would suck air and leak fuel.  I will pick up the housing tomorrow on our way out of town so I will have the spare non motorized unit when required.  I have acquired a set of "O" rings that is the beginning of my spare part inventory.  Now I also know how it comes apart and replace the "O" rings again.  I thought the worst and it was not as bad as I thought.  Cost of repair: $200.00 +/-.  New filter housing, filter and adapters (two sided threaded nipples) $45.00.  So grateful that this occurred in our RV park and not between El Paso and Livingston, TX.  All in all a great day.

Just wanted to share this as I was thinking the worst and this could cost me/us $$$$$, but instead met some more wonderful people from this forum that are and have been most willing to share their experiences with us.  ;D

Thanks guys for helping Robert out.  At least he is in a CG and not stranded.  I was of no help as my fuel system is very different.
I think it is a BIG DEAL that this bunch can and does pass along their knowledge on a timely basis to anyone that asks. ^.^d

Today I installed both filters on the Winn/Racor filter pump assy, Found the O ring needed replaced on the bottom assy that holds the clear plastic filter/screen, was able to find correct O ring, so purchased 2, 1 as a spare.  All working & looking correct. :D
Also changed oil & filter, EXACTLY TEN GAL., THen greased complete, not brakes.
Next will be the installation of springs on all four wheels, nice to have another look at seals, bearings, adjusters, rotors & brake pads.
I love the warm fuzzy feeling ;D
Also found the left side fog lite broken from a stone, these are new style FOT just instlled.

Dave,
Do you have the number for that "O" Ring? Nice to carry one.

I did not get the PN from the mechanic that changed mine.  He brought a package of assorted "O" rings.  Some were black and some were and orange color.  He gave me the ones, 2 sizes, for reference.

My opinion is simply the helper springs are a great idea for those that either do not want  to keep serviced or do not know how to properly inspect and maintain the brake system.
I would also be as happy with the old standard S Cam, shoes & drum that is the normal / common setup on most truck and bus systems.
Coupled with the Retarder, both systems are great, however the disc system takes more money & time to keep up to snuff.
