CDR-E2 FUHO VACRON Drive/Dash camera

OK,I received this vehicle recording system, yes it works, no it is not easy nor simple, seems to be the Taiwan normal quality, Being aware of my lack of understanding where I need a 5 yr old to figure it out.
IF the remote controller worked in an easy manor, it would be an improvement, however it does not, sometimes it takes holding the button down for a few (5-10) seconds before it decides to do something, some times it will beep and make thechange, some times it has no beep, sometimes it does not work at all.
Clearly I must be doing something wrong as nothing could be designed that stupid could it?
How can the SD be erased ?
Yes it does make movies

Yes, trying to make changes in the preferences is a bit confusing but with a little practice it begins to make sense.  The full manual that is on the CD is much more helpful than the quick guide but still you need to guess at what the writer was trying to say.  It is not real obvious but there are separate settings for the camcorder function and the camera function and if you are trying to make changes to the camcorder when it is in the camera mode you can't get to the right menu item.  To erase the SC you navigate to the Format menu and then move the green block to highlight the check rather than the X.  This may be clear as mud but I actually have been able to set it up the way I want with only minor frustration.

When the FUHO little remote control buttons are pressed it flashes a light. The FUHO camera has an 'eye' that needs to 'see' the remote's flash. I think this 'eye' is on the bottom of the camera and if the 'eye' cannot see the remote because it is pointed in the wrong direction, I found the camera screen unresponsive.

This one I did not purchase but got a cheap one from EBay.  Came in couple days ago.  Put it on my car dash and it is amazing.  Came home and looked at it on the big screen TV.  Wow, you can see lots of details but I only had a 2 gig card so I filled it up with a 30 mile trip.  The camera has three speeds so I will slow it down to use less space and obtain a 32 gig card.  This should put it up to about 450 miles at least.  Easy to delete.  These cheap cameras from Hong Kong would cost three times as much if sold through outlets in the US. Took about 2 weeks to get here.  Should be great view this summer in the mountains and going through tunnels.  This must be where a lot of the UTube pictures come from.  DAN

Dave,

To completely erase the SD card just use the "Format" option.  To erase individual files use the card reader on your computer and list the files.  Then you can open them with any video program such as windows media player or Irfan view (Irfanview.com) which is free.  It records in 60 sec chunks.

Just to add, I have a dash cam but did not have it in the car last Friday.  I had a grandstand view of one driver pulling out of a gas station turning left between stopped traffic when another came barreling down the turn lane and nailed his left front fender.  One person off to hospital.  The things you see when you don't have the camera!
