Drag link,

,
How easy is it too buy a Drag link for a 1988 Grand Villa in the USA,

Can you buy them off the shelf, and what company sells them,

The company that did my conversion, Just heated the drag link and bent it to shape,
The Engineer and the Mechanic here doing the Road worthy have both rejected the bent Drag link,
It will not be registered till this drag link is replaced with a new one,

The new hose off the steering box was replaced in California by a hose with a push on coupling, It blew here before I could drive it out of the Customs yard, It split on the side,

I cut 2 inches off it and put it back on, It got me home, 55 Klms.  Then I drove about 30 Kays to get the Steering aligned, Blew the hose again, I walked 2 miles to a Pressure hose place, They sold me a new hose and put it together for me,
Drove the 30 Kays to home and then next day 10 Kays to the  Mechanics, The new hose blew again, Split,
This is a complete Pressure system and this hose needs to be a High pressure screwed fitting,

Its now got the high pressure hose on it, so hope fully that problem is solved,

Can you Buy the right hand wind screen off the shelf there, It has a big groove in it, and wont pass road worthy as is,

Going to see if it can be repaired with epoxy, Or what ever that stuff is that they pump into the holes, chips or cracks,
Cheers,

Brian,

I would e-mail Mike Grimes, Parts Manager at Foretravel. Include chassis number and perhaps a photo of what you need.

Thanks Brett,
I have all the part numbers for the Oshkosh Drag link, I have the parts list in my Manual, I even have a piccy off it,

If you can still buy them off the shelf in the states, I may be able to buy one some where here, Freightliner perhaps,

I am thinking of the postage side of it, Cost,

I dont know why they bent it, looking at it last night in the dark, It could have stayed straight, there is nothing for it to catch on,
The RHD conversion was a mirror image change over, unbolt from one side, turn it around and rebolt it up on the right hand side, The front wheels didnt even have to come off for the change over,

A few wires have been cooked, causing the hydraulic fan to stop working, So a Job this morning, Replace all these cooked wires, and ring around for parts,
Cheers,

Brian,

The first thing I do when looking for parts I to put the part # into Google and search.  You could add a location to it to get one in your area if you are lucky.  Found all sorts of things that way that supposedly were unobtainable.

Thats a good idea, The number itself,  The Oshkosh Chassis came here originally as garbage trucks, So there must be parts here some where,
Even a drag link off some thing else, That has the same dimensions as the Oshkosh one,
I have found a lot of things fit, other things on other Vehicles,

F100 parts are the same as their early cars, and dont carry the exorbitant prices the F100's do here,

Here, F 100 parts are,  leave your check book on the counter, DUUHHHH.

I do most of my own mechanicals,
