Ignition lock bezel removal for our 1997

I purchased a new NAPA Echlin KS6603 ignition switch to replace our original switch.

Our switch is mounted to the dash with a chrome inset bezel with three dimples.

Anyone know an easy way to remove the original switch?  What tricks can be used to unscrew the bezel, only having the three dimples to work with?

I see inexpensive tools in the market place, but are  not sure they will fit our bezel dimples as no measurements are offered.

If I knew year and model of car did our ignition switch come from, I could search for the proper tool.

Barry, I could be wrong (think it happened once years ago!!) but surely it looks like the one that is on Barry's  Beam alarm FOT site on removing. Does yours have the little hole were bezel meets cetre tumbler, and if so I think you just push in a pin into the hole then the centre part seperates from it them you take off the bezel

You might be able to loosen the bezel by accessing the switch from the back side and turning it. Our switch was loose and just turning the ignition key would rotate the cylinder. I was able to tighten it by turning from the back.

Barry, The ignition switch on mine looks about the same and it is a GM switch.  MY METHOD, is to use a small tip screwdriver in one of the dimples and hold the bezel against its rotation, and reach behind the dash and loosen switch. OR you can use the same screwdriver in the dimples and tap it loose with a small hammer, once it moves it is only finger tight.

Garys method is what I do. But first you usually have to take out the lock cylinder. Put the key in and turn to the acc position and put a pick in the small hole in the cylinder, wiggle the key and it will pop out. Mark
