Entry door lock actuator (split from Re: What did you do to your coach)

Replaced the actuator for the door dead bolt.  It has been making a grinding noise for a month or so.  Easy replacement.  Unlike the bay doors, where FT has changed the actuator used on our coach with another, the door actuator is an exact replacement.  Cost is about $100 from FOT.  There were no manufacturer marks on it so I don't think it would be possible to find another source.... at least for me.  The pic below shows the actuator.

George I looked up the door lock actuator on Barry's service and repair page. What he had done because of lack of room in the door of his 99 U270, was replace the door lock actuator with one removed from one of the bays. He then install a new low cost actuator for the bay door.Gam

Jimmy.....Be sure to check the wires between the door and the frame before changing out the actuator.  They break over time and can be repaired using ultra flexible wire (see previous post).  Electric Door Lock Wiring Repair If the actuator goes bad it will usually work, but has a grinding sound when it opens and closes the dead bolt.  You can get the actuator from FOT parts for about $100.  It is an easy 2 screw replacement.  Take some pics as you take it apart so you get it back together correctly.  This especially applies to the cover of the locking mechanism.  Of course before you can get to the actuator you must remove about 50 screws holding the window frame on and removed the panel covering the door.  A bit of a pain, but not a big deal.  I do have a few pics.  If you want them, email me.

Gam.... I have replaced several of my bay actuators and had a spare.  But it does not appear to work in the door.  Not enough room.  At least I could not figure out how to make it work.  That is why I bought the replacement from FOT.

I will have to investigate further , I can hear various activators powering on lock and unlock but the unlock has to be by key ?
