Sofa/Couch Removal:

We need to remove the sofa/hide-a-bed for some upholstery repair. Has anyone who's done this any tips / tricks to offer??

It is held in place with 4 bolts. There are sections on the couch that you can remove-

We had two sofa/couches, the jack-knife type, and each was held down with 17, yes, 4 in long screws! Maybe they got paid by the number of revolutions the did on each couch. Folded the things flat and out the 24 in door.

Mine is a jack-knife. 4 bolts for the folding section and about 6 4" screws thru to the floor for the frame. Came out way easier than I thought it would but does require 2 people.

Yup, comes apart with 4 bolts/nut removal. Once back and bottom are separated, easy to remove.

Even if you could remove it as one piece, the upholsterer would have to separate the pieces to recover them.

It is not necessary to remove any hardware. We reupholstered our jackknife sofa, this past winter. The cushions are held in with hog rings, cut these with bolt cutters and take just the cushions out. Fortunately our foam was in good condition. We used Velcro to reinstall so removal for cleaning will be a breeze.
No RV! Have hung up the keys.

Thanks to all who had suggestions or related their experience! I'll look more closely for the hog-rings; not sure how they're arranged on our couch, but if I can reach / cut those it seems that approach would be simpler in several ways. Thanks!
