Dash A/C Condenser Fan and Motor failure risk

Local A/C shop evacuated and serviced my Dash A/C today; now working great.  Upon check out, I was cautioned to be aware that the condenser fan and motor was most likely approaching its end of life cycle.  and upon failure would cause expensive damaging results to other components in the a/c system.  Now their cost to replace it didn't appear excessive ($250);  BTW fan and motor from MOT (motorcade discounted price) ~$167 plus shipping.  Not sure if a perfectly working part in fact needs immediate replacement; nor if the consequences described are accurate if I chose to risk waiting for it to fail.

Look forward to comments on this.

My condenser fan quit also, only noticeable issue, duct temp only dropped to  68-70f, with new fan back to normal under 50f.

When a condenser fan fails, head pressures rise A LOT.  Whether that will do damage depends on the system and whether it has a high pressure cut-out.

Thx for the prompt replies on this.    Also sent a msg to James Triana and he was kind enough to respond with this good news as well...

" Condenser fan comes on when a/c is on, it does have safety protection devices to protect the system. High and low."

Looks like either my a/c guy tried the fear tactic to sell this prematurely or perhaps he didn't realize how well FT designed and built these coaches.

My condenser fan died and took the condenser with it on my 2000.  It was also on e same circuit as the ECM and when I turned on the AC it stalled the engine. I put it on its own resettable breaker and replaced the fan. The fan was cheap the ac was not.  Just replace the condense fan on my 01 last year.  Did not blow anything and the ac works well.  Had to replace the resettable breaker as that was bad this time.
