Oshkosh chassis decoder ring (split from Re: Coach Build Numbers)

For those with the Oshkosh Truck chassis the following information from my Oshkosh Truck manual might be enlightening.
The model (example) given is V-917-4
The V is the model series.
The first digit (9) is the nominal front axle rating in thousands of pounds: 9,000#
The next two digits (17) are for the nominal rear axle rating in thousands of pounds: 17,000#
The last digit (4) is the arrangement (whatever that refers to).
The Chassis Vehicle Identification Number is stamped in the left hand frame rail just behind the left front wheel.
The final manufacturer, who adds any additional equipment to the vehicle, provides the GAWR and GVWR certification plate. ( I guess this means Foretravel of Texas--apparently remiss in this case as there is none)

You should have these two plates on your 89 G/V. Is one missing,

I do have the Foretravel plate. But, I kinda figured it would be different seeing as how Foretravel did add a "little" bit more weight to the total.

No, sorry. We are not going to the Great Plains rally. The DW (and I a tiny little bit) are in the process of planning a Wisconsin Voyageurs FMCA rally for next year in Eagle River, WI. This, along with setting the Vue up for towing, along with a multitude of little things necessary to get ready for our winter migration to S. Texas, are occupying most of our time.

We were in Country Roads RV park in Lake Delton the first weekend in June. A couple came up to our coach and proceeded to tell us how unique and beautiful our coach was. (we are used to hearing this but always appreciate the comments). The lady said they had to go back to their 5er and look up Foretravel on the internet, as they had never heard of the brand. They wanted more information, which we gave (along with the nickel tour) and said they would be looking a lot closer at Foretravel coaches now that they had seen ours and saw how well a 24 year old coach stood up to time and design.
