TPMS vs a tire pressure equalization system for duals

I have always been an advocate of a TPMS on all wheels, but that doesn't address the pressure equalization issue on duals. Just how critical is it to have equal pressure in the duals? Are both a TPMS and pressure equalizer system necessary? What are the opinions and experiences here?

Most of the following is speculation so take it for what it's worth:

I have the Crossfire system on our rear duals and it seems pretty accurate and easy to work with. Just make sure you're in the green and your good. I think that if you get a blowout you'll know it right away. However it seems to me that if one of those tires goes slowly flat you might go too far on it before realizing it. So I am considering a TPMS on the main Crossfire pressure point just as an extra early warning system.

The plus is you'll only need 4 TPMS senders for the coach (and another 4 for the toad if you go that way).

If I understand you correctly, you would attach the TPMS sensor to the Crossfire center point. Is there a convenient, reliable way to do that? Thanks for your insight.

I see - it has a valve stem similar to an ordinary tire valve stem.

Yup... that's where you air it up. Nice and convenient, too. No fiddling with the inside dualie. I think the system is pretty handy but it came with the coach. Not sure I'd get one myself, but the previous owner (the first owner... there was one in-between) was a pretty sharp cookie when it came to upgrades.
