I have seen Ed and Evelyn's coach and it is great. Love the paint job and Ed does take care of it.
Sad to hear they are selling.

I have also been inside this coach, and it is very lovingly maintained.  PArt of the beauty is that it has been regularly USED, which makes all Foretravels happier.

I too had the good fortune to meet Ed and Evelyn and see the 94, U240 in May of this year. I am very confident that their coach is in pristine condition and one could buy it and drive it across the country with full confidence. However, a 40 foot U280 is a much more comfortable coach to drive and to live in. If all else is equal I would pick the U280 with 8 air bags and a lot more storage in the bays.

Keep in mind that there are few coaches cared for like Ed's U240 so if you want to spend only the purchase price on a Foretravel and not worry about spending more money to get on the road, Ed's would be a good one. IMGO

Well i have made a deal on Ed and Evelyn's U240 and now we have to book a flight over there to pick it up and drive it across US to home. Sight unseen (except the pictures) and a telephone call to Ed. We have to do the govt papers for import but all looks fine. My Brother will be having it and it is their 1st MHome. He is already a forum member but has just been learning about them all and quirks!! The first thing looks like updating the rear susp to heavier unit or air bags to help the Torsalastic beams. We will deal with that when it is here. I hope all of you on our route back will be waving at us as we pass. I 80/I94 and I90. Over 3000 miles, should take 3 days or so.

We can wave to you as you cross the I-90 bridge over (the eastern) bridge across Moses Lake. If you see the radio towers north of the freeway, honk your horn. Our house looks eastwards right at those towers.

My hat is off to you.  That's a helluva drive!  I belong to the Iron Butt Association, a group that certifies long-distance motorcycle rides.  The beginning qualification ride is a documented 1000 miles in 24 hours, and that one is actually pretty easy.  One of the rides is 1500 miles in 24 hours, and that one is NOT easy.  My first one was a little over 1600 miles in 23 hours and I was ready for bed when I got home.  I've done the 3200 mile Ride Around Texas several times, so I can testify that your 3300 miles in 48 hours is a lot of hard hours behind the wheel.

By the way, congrats on a beautiful U-240.  I wish mine looked half as good.

3300 miles in 48 hours is an average of 68.75 mph. In order to do that, the only stops would have to be for fuel (and quick ones at that), and keeping the speedometer 70-75 the whole way. That means Interstate highways the whole way. I keep the speedometer at 60-65 and figure on an average speed of around 50 mph.

John, I may have misunderstood your post but I thought it said that you had driven 3300 miles to Gainsville, Florida in under 2 days.

I know that one of my Rides Around Texas (riding the perimeter of Texas, almost 3200 miles of mostly FM roads and state highways) I made in 64 hours on my motorcycle and there was not a lot of sleep involved.  The same distance in 2 days in a motorhome would be amazing.

John:  She surely is a beauty.  Congratulations to you and your Brother!  It's good to see her go through someone familiar with Foretravels.
