Vibration rattle in front roof area

At speeds above 40mph, I have a vibration noise in ceiling at the front end of the big oval recessed lighting fixture. Nothing on top is causing problem. Driving me crazy. It sounds like you are moving cables across back and forth. This made me think about the Winegard satellite. It is a Traveler unit. The prior owner had it installed a couple of years ago. I am wondering how the cables are lying between the header board and roof skin?  Also, how would one access this area? I used a stethoscope to isolate the rattle. I hope there is a way to get behind the headliner from the inside?

My Winegard wires come down through the same fitting as the OTA wire.  Are the Winegard wires caulked to the roof every six inches?  You may need to remove a panel inside an overhead cabinet to check out the wires inside the coach.

           We had the same issue, annoying scrapping sound right over my head at highway speeds. I thought it was in the ceiling but found that the Satellite wires on the roof were moving around in the wind. Stuck them back down with silicone and all is quiet now.

We experienced the same noise and it turned out to be a yellow cable that runs across the front behind the TV.  It had been held in place with duct tape which came loose and allowed it to move a bit.  Since it seemed to be speed or wind related, I was sure it was one of the cables on the roof until I fastened them down with polyurethane calk.  Once I took off the wood panel above the VCR (yes we still have one) it was easy to see and tape back in place.  One of these days I will fasten it in place with cable clips but for now the tape keeps things quiet.  It may be that we don't even need it but I haven't traced it to find what purpose it serves.

Monti, On our 99' U270, the yellow "cables" behind the TV cabinets are airlines that feed the Hadley's up above... Probably not a good idea to stick a probe in one to test for continuity ;D

Interesting!  Since I didn't take off enough wood panels to find the ends, I just assumed it was probably electrical.  Next time I have that area opened up I'll take a closer look to see if it is an air line.  Whatever it is, it was hanging loose and causing the noise that was speed dependent.

We all know how annoying a noise can be, I have had a marble or screw rolling around in the cabinet above the steering wheel, when I tore all apart to clean up the wiring mess, guess what, I found the critter, a screw. Funny how small things make you feel good.
