Michelin Tire Specifications XZA-2 275/80R22.5

Our new to us 2004 U270 3610 came with XZA-2 tires. FOT replaced the tires with XZE tires 275/80R22.5. Both tires had a load rating of H. The original XZA-2 tires were discontinued. I would like to know the specifications for the original tires to compare them to what is now on the motorcoach. The new tires have a load rating for single tire of 7,160 pounds at 120 PSI. The front axle fully loaded is rated at 13,320 pounds. When fully loaded, the current tires are maxed out. I have been unable to find an old brochure or any specifications online. Does anyone have an old brochure or the specifications for the old tires that they can share with me?  Thanks, Larry

If they were the XZA-2 low profile our '03 came with, here is the info from the owner's manual

(ETA here is the link to Michelin's load/inflation tables http://www.michelinrvtires.com/michelinrv/tires-retreads/load-inflation-tables.jsp .  It shows all their current 275/80R22.5 LRH tires share the same load/inflation specs, which are different than the now-discontinued XZA-2 low profile.)

Michelle,
Thank you. It seems that the new tires installed have a higher rating than the old tires. It also seems that FOT never expected the front axle to be loaded to the maximum load rating. Or, tires can actually safely be run at their maximum load rating.

The differences I noted were that at identical inflation psi, the newer models are actually rated for slightly less load BUT the newer tires support a higher inflation (120 psi versus the XZA-2's 115 psi) so ultimately can support higher load (as long as you inflate to proper levels).

Difference in casing design perhaps?

Have you checked individual wheel weights as well?  Escapees' SmartWeigh program is one option http://escapees.com/SmartWeigh/Default.aspx , RVSEF is another (the latter will be at the Grandvention in September Weighing Schedule | RV Safety.com ).  If you're approaching max inflation needs, for safety it might be advisable to make sure you aren't over on one side, particularly if it's the front.

Michelle,
Actually, we weighed at a CAT scale on our way home from FOT. We were only able to weigh each axle. The front was 11,920 pounds vs max axle of 14,320. The rear axle was 19,000 vs max of 21,000. These weights were with full fuel, full water, 3/4 propane and empty black/grey tanks. Also, we were loaded with almost everything we usually carry on a trip. For information, we upsized from a 27 ft gas Itasca class A motorhome. So, we really do not carry very much stuff.
